I Even Funnier: A Middle School Story (I Funny, 2) Hardcover – December 9, 2013

Book has a little goofy kid humor appealing to the boys, but very cute book in general. Kept my son enthralled reading.

Again a funny read that added Elements of suspense....will Jamie win?! A good, light funny read. Maybe for kids, but this adult loved it, too!

I admire the books in this series mostly because they go places many middle grade books avoid. The authors skip the usual angles - clueless parents, nerdiness, annoying siblings, absent or distracted parent, gross out humor, social awkwardness - in favor of a different sort of story that has an authentic feel, or at least a reasonable approximation of an authentic feel. Add some humor, a tough and engaging hero, carefully crafted supporting characters, and some hijinks and some tender moments, and you have a series a kid reader can really get behind.And that's the big question, isn't it. The grandkids are into this series; and being engaged with any books that are well written, while still peppy and fast moving, is a middle grade winner.

Pages 166-167 paraphrased: the person told his joke in Farsi without a translator. Then a symbol clanging monkey clanged cymbols while yelling "you want some of this???"When comedians flop it's called dying. Jamie wished he could after seeing who he was competing against.He woke up covered in flop sweat.Whew, it was only a dream. Except for the sweat.Why was Jamie covered in sweat if he only had a dream and was really relieved to wake up? Will he actually try his act out on the general public or will he lose his nerve because of the dream? This answer and other immersion experiences you can also have as part of I Even Funnier is waiting for you when you experience this story. Heck, you may even decide to really go through the experience of being a comedian and post videos on social media or here on this page partly or wholly on the book series. Maybe both.

As a parent, many of us struggle to find appropriate reading material for our children..THAT THEY WANT TO READ!! No problem here!!! We want to encourage the love of reading and picture our children reading Charles Dickens and Mark Twain etc. Then we realize that they want to cling to picture books. Most schools don't verify that our children are checking out age appropriate material from the school library. A 5th grade child should NOT be reading a "Sesame Street" book. Lol. Nor does it seem that book reports are essential to developing comprehension anymore.This series of books is a great adjustment to "chapter books". They provide some illustration/visual entertainment and the story lines are fun and silly. Keep the child engaged in reading. My son doesn't complain about his 20 minute mandatory reading anymore!! Mr Patterson..I hope you can keep up!! Hope you do a "HIGH SCHOOL" series next!! Lol

Another fine story by James!

It can be really difficult to get some young people excited about reading books. Whether your kids are readers or haven't shown much curiosity yet, the James Patterson book "I Funny" and this book, its sequel, represent a great opportunity to get them started on a lifetime journey of reading adventure. The author's main character Jamie Grimes, is an atypical modern young boy in two respects ... he is wheelchair-bound and also is extremely bright and witty. Jamie also has powerful personal ambition. This book is about embracing your goals in the adversity of normal life hardships. It is a young-adult classic with lots of illustration and humor. Buy it as a gift and you just may be very pleased at the positive changes you will witness in the children you bought it for.

Hi it's me you might have seen my book review called read others first please or not the best but today no it's different all of it. This book is ok despite the grossesed things ever like kissing and stuff like that but it's a great book so yeah read it but I'm a bit sad there is no more because SPOILER he never gets into Hollywood cause there is no other book and poor Gilda having to kiss him really Patterson really.
