Good value built-in charcoal grill, a few flaws
I've been happily using a Weber Performer 22" kettle for 5 years (which retails at about half this product). However, I'm upgrading my outdoor kitchen and want a more "built-in" look. I don't like gas grills and this was about $400 cheaper than its closest charcoal competitor on Amazon. I've used this grill once so far.CON1. This does *NOT* come assembled. The instructions are only in Chinese, but the diagrams were all I needed. Only tools required are a brain and a screwdriver (ratchet recommended). Took me about 90 minutes and I'm maybe about a 6.5 on the "handy" scale. There were 2 extra pieces not shown in the parts list or assembly diagrams and 2 unused screws but as far as I can tell the thing is complete.2. Compared to a Weber the metal is thin and (once assembled) flexes and twists when you try to move it. Since mine will be built-in I don't anticipate a problem, but this is definitely *NOT* a portable product for camping, etc. - a Weber would be better.3. Design flaw - the vents that control air flow over the charcoal (and hence cooking temperature) are on the left/right SIDES of the grill, not the front (where they should be). Since this unit is intended to be built-in this presents an access problem. I think I can design around it and/or use the door on the front but IMO it's a dumb mistake.PRO1. Once assembled it's a nice looking unit.2. Useable cooking area is 28x16" (448 square inches), about 100" (30%) more than my 22" Weber. Being rectangular, I can cook 2 whole salmon at once (unlike my Weber). I cooked 4 6oz burgers on one half of this grill with room to spare.3. I like the chimney vent on top.OTHER1. I suggest a Kingsford charcoal chimney starter or similar since it's not easy to stack briquets otherwise.2. The pictures show a rotisserie attachment but I haven't found one yet.Good grilling!

Great purchase
The grill is awesome. It comes with a very nIce utensils set and BBQ cover. The design is sleek. The directions are simple and the assembling was a breeze. I love the adjustment of the coals rack for close and far away charcoal burn. The cast iron grills are great quality.

Backyard Grilling Just Got a Serious Upgrade
The media could not be loaded. This grill made me feel like I leveled up from backyard dabbler to full-blown BBQ boss. We installed it into a little outdoor setup we’ve been building out slowly, and now it’s the centerpiece. The cast iron cooking surface is massive—big enough that we can do burgers, veggies, and a few ears of corn all at the same time without playing food Tetris. It gets hot, holds heat like a champ, and gives everything that perfect, charred finish we could never quite get with our old gas grill. The height-adjustable charcoal tray might be my favorite part. I didn’t realize how much I’d appreciate that feature until I actually started using it. Being able to quickly crank the heat up or ease it off without shifting food or fumbling with coals is such a game changer for things like chicken thighs or pork ribs where temperature control really matters. It just makes grilling feel more relaxed. They clearly thought through the design—the front access door for adding charcoal is genius. I used to dread trying to squeeze more coals in mid-cook, but now I can just open the little hatch and toss more in without moving a single burger. Cleanup’s also easier than I expected. The slide-out ash and grease tray means no more banging the grill out upside down or scrubbing with a wire brush for an hour.It works beautifully as a built-in, but it also sat freestanding on our patio for a few weeks before we finalized the install, and it was totally stable and functional on its own. I wasn’t expecting something that looked this sharp to be so straightforward to use. Now we’re constantly finding excuses to grill—weekend dinners, weeknight sausages, random corn on the cob just because we can.Definitely one of the best outdoor upgrades we’ve made.
