They are ineffective . Don't waste your money and don't get eaten alive.
These did nothing to stop biting flies while camping in the BWCA. I had high hopes but what a let down. I blame myself for not reading the fine print. These are impregnated with a .25 solution of permethrin which is half what is recommended or half what a product like Sayer puts out to do your own clothes. INEFFECTIVE!!! I wore these in the most bugged out conditions I have ever seen in 30 years of going up to BWCA.I bought them for both my son and I thinking I was a smart SOB. Wrong. I wish I could give them zero stars.Don't waste your money on these because they don't work. You need at least a .5 solution to keep anything away.BTW. I bought 4 pairs. Tried two and came home and threw the other two unopened into a circular file.

Very comfortable socks treated with very effective tick poison
Permethrin doesn't just repel ticks, it kills them on contact. Before learning about permethrin, I had lyme disease three times (seems you don't develop an immunity to it), and that is enough. All the evidence, including my own experience, is that permethrin is extremely effective at preventing tick bites. I also use permethrin spray on my gardening clothes and shoes. (Note: Do NOT apply it to skin.)Socks alone will not do the job, you also need it other places ticks can get to you. But socks by themselves will probably stop the majority of ticks. These socks are fairly thick and very comfortable.

Comfortable and they keep the bugs away!
These socks really do keep away the ticks and other insects! I was at an outdoor performance last week, and stuffed these in my bag before I left. At dusk, everyone was getting bitten around the ankles - I put these socks on and had no problems. There is no scent and they wash easily. I also have Insect Shield pants and shirt - so much easier and less toxic, and less smelly than putting on lot's of bug spray!

good socks for tick prevention
I like the insect shield products and own jeans, pants, shirts, and socks from them. I can say that since I have started wearing their gear outdoors that I have not had a tick on me. I am a frequent hiker, camper and spend a lot of time outdoors in potential tick areas. Love their products. Their socks aren't quite 5 star as they are thinner than my liking, but I wear them anyway or with another pair... though in warmer weather I wish they were just more like hiking sock thickness. These are already quite expensive though and they are at the highest limit I'm willing to pay.

Doesn't work for fleas
I haven't tried these socks out in the grass to see the effect on ants, etc., because I bought them so I could spray a screened porch carpet (which will be going) without being eaten alive. Like any sock, they protected my bare leg, but the fleas jumped on me to ride into the house as though I had regular socks on. I have found that many compounds that may repel mosquitoes, no-see-um, etc., don't really work on fleas, so I gave it three stars rather than knocking it down further.

super comfy
I bought these for my hubby, and they fit him fine. he wore them and did not get any bugs on him while out doing yard work. he found them to be well fitting and comfortable. he wears a 10.5 shoe. the following week I borrowed them to do some yard work and didnt want to get bugs on me. i did not get any bugs , and i normally come in with a tick on me. they fit me just fine, and I wear a ladies 7.5 shoe. I found them comfy and stayed dry even tho it was a warm day and I was working a lot. so they seem to stretch well and fit more sizes. I thought they would be way too big on me but happy I could use them. now i have to get my own pair!

Works great.
If you live in tick and chigger country, you need socks like this. Elimitick is another good brand. Both work well and greatly reduce the number of tick and chigger bites you'll get.

No chigger bites or ticks.
We have an abundance of chiggers and ticks in our backyard. I never go out there unless I spray myself head to foot. Having these socks adds another layer of assurance. Haven't had one bit since I got the socks. Highly recommend them.

Saved my life in Algonquin
I went to Algonquin Park during the peak of bug season in Canada. I can confidently say I went as prepared as possible, bug spray/deet, bug mask, bug shirt and even bug pants.THE ONLY PART OF MY BODY NOT BITTEN was the length of these socks from toe to calf.If I could wear this like a suit I would have, I am devastated from the quantity of bites but still happy enough to write this review due to how effective they are.Buy them.

Works well! Just make sure to cover the rest of your body
I decided to take the leap and buy some mosquito clothing because I get eaten alive outdoors, up in northern canada. The first day I went outside I used them for a few hours and had no problems or bites on my legs. For the price I think I'll probably buy another pair. Says on the package that they last for 70 washes so I'm glad for that! The material is high quality and not cheap or scratchy. I smelled them and there is no scent whatsoever. Really cool item and functional!

does the job!
Went to the Amazon Jungle for 3 days and i have not been bitten by any insects and my feet were not hot either.seems to work but i couldn't tell since i had my feet in rubber boots for most of the time and hiking ankle shoes for the rest. i guess i didn't get any ticks or bites though the socks so i would say it works.

Actually works!
I have a place in the deep woods of north Ontario. Late May and June is a very bad time for mosquitoes and black flies. They get under my pant legs and bite my ankles. Last two weeks I used these socks and did not get a single bite.

Feel more secure
I haven’t actually seen ticks trying to cross this barrier. I pull them over the cuffs of my tick repelling pants and feel safer mowing my lawn in black legged tick territory in southern Ontario. They are hot in summer weather but so are the pants. I sweat for my lawn.
