Easy to Grow
I bought 80 bulbs about 5 years ago. Although I didn't get many blooms the first year, the bulbs have continued to flourish and divide over the years so that I now have almost 400 bulbs and I harvest more saffron than my family uses in a single year, so I have some to share with friends. I live in the Sandhills region of North Carolina (grow zone 8B) and I hardly do work on these bulbs. The only work involved in applying a fresh layer of mulch in the spring and pulling out any weeds that come up through the spring and summer. The original composition of the soil in my backyard was a sandy layer overtop heavy clay. I mixed in some loamy soil the first year I planted these, and the annual application of mulch has helped enrich the soil with very little effort.

Vital and alive
Came better than expected! Already sprouting and flourishing! Had to plant right away indoors though.

Hard to grow
These seeds worked but the plants only reach to a stub. Maybe if there is a complete instruction how to grow them since the survive harsh conditions.

These things don't grow
I bought 2 of these, 20 bulbs. I planted all 20 of them at the same time in the same soil. Of the 20 bulbs only 3 broke ground. Of the 3 one of them got to about half an inch and died. Out of 20 bulbs I have exactly 2 that are still growing. They're up to about 6 inches now so we'll see what happens. I do by the way have a green thumb. Even though it's now winter I have a dozen or so tomato plants that are huge and still producing in December. I also have a number of other plants doing great. So I know it's not me. Next order I place will likely be from someone else.

Took to long for shipping
I ordered them in late September and didn't arrive till late October. I had to plant them indoors. I got six bulbs that varied a great deal in size. So far 5 out of six have sprouted. The first one to sprout has a very long stem. Not sure if my 4" pot is deep enough. Did not come with any planting instructions. Still early to tell how well they will do indoors.

So far 1 of 10 have sprouted! (Update: 10 of 10!)
I planted 10 of these about 6 weeks ago. They have to go through a cold period before they sprout, so they were just hanging out in the outside air. Then, we moved and one got knocked over in the process. I was bummed but replanted it, and lo and behold about a week later one of them sprouted. Now, I have no way of knowing if it's the spilled-and-replanted one that sprouted, and the extra burst of fresh air and sunlight when it dumped out all over the sidewalk was enough to kick start it... but 1 out of 10 sprouted, and 1 out of 10 got dumped out and replanted.I plan on tipping over a few more, replanting them, and seeing what happens......UPDATE! I dumped out all the containers and replanted them. Turns out they were all growing under the soil, they just hadn't poked their heads out yet. I was just too impatient! Currently, all 10 bulbs have now grown up and out!

All bulbs were viable
All ten bulbs were beginning to sprout, which for me was fine because I was ready to plant them and it allowed me to know all bulbs were alive and viable. I didn't receive any plant food in the order but it wasn't a deal killer. They won't flower until the summer/fall so I can't speak of anything else until then. If these succeed I shall order more
