Hello Sujoy, No need to wash before using it. Remember one thing after adding the substrate your tank water is become cloudy. But don't worry. When the particle is settled down the water becomes clear. Note : Keep the filter off until the particle is settled down. Regards, Thick Whiskers

is it enough for 2/1/1.5 ft tank tank?

If you are making a fully planted aquarium with a green bed you might need upto 6kgs otherwise 4 kgs should be enough
