Nice electric chainsaw with some great features
Have had a few months and only used a couple of times so far, but it was awesome. Super sharp and powerful. Worked great on both soft pine and a few hardwoods. Really nice that blade stops instantly when trigger is released while motor continues to spin down. It can therefore be set down safely and immediately after cut without it digging into ground (or worse) and dulling blade. Built in sharpener is also a great feature. Packed with safety engaged, so don't panic when it doesn't start after unpacking. Check that safety is released. Wish Oregon made a case for it. A little hard to find a case to store it in as it is a bit longer than similar gas saws because of the position of the electric cord.

Great tool for the money!!
Oregon CS1500 18-inch 15 Amp Self-Sharpening Corded Electric ChainsawI bought this electric chainsaw last month because my gas operated chain saw was acting up and I needed to get rid of some small trees in the yard. I wanted a chainsaw with enough power and long enough chain to cut 8” trees. This chainsaw is good for what I needed done. It was able to cut through the tree and the logs very easily. There is enough power in this saw, and I was not expecting gas chainsaw performance power from this $100+ saw. This saw did not cut as fast as my gas chainsaw, but it did cut "continuously"!The automatic chain oiler works well. The auto sharpener is convenient and easy to use. When you push the sharpener handle, you could see little sparks as the sharpener stone brushes against the chain/links.I used a 100 feet extension cord and there was no power drop.Overall a very good chainsaw for $100 price range. Quality of the parts is good. Sure there is plastic but it is not flimsy.

Wow, this electric chain saw is powerful and very sharp. Works great.
Wow , very sharp teeth so be careful. This saw changed my mind about electric chain saws. Easy to use and surprisingly powerful. Starts instantly no need to pull a cord. Good size 18 inch chain that has an attactched chain sharpener. Good durability and well oiled mechanism that does not leak.

Powerful and no tools needed!
About a week or so ago, we had a storm that blew over a 50' tall, 14" diameter red oak. While I have a 20" gas powered chainsaw, I've been wanting try out electric saws simply for noise reduction. At around $110, this Oregon CS 1500 seemed like just the ticket. This beast arrived yesterday and I was surprised at how solid it felt. It weighs in at over 12lbs (without chain oil). There's a bit of fussing you have to do before you use it in that you need to prime the chain oiler system. This requires that the bar and chain be removed and running the motor until the oil starts flowing through the lube hole. This is pretty easy since there are no tools required to do it!The priming thing only takes 5 minutes from start to finish -- the instructions are very easy to follow.Once reassembled, I headed outdoors to attack the tree. I gathered up my 12 gauge copper 100' extension cord and got to it.This puppy is a dream to operate! The chain stops immediately upon release of the trigger, it doesn't make any more noise than a circular saw of the same amperage rating, and the chain is razor sharp!Since I was cutting up an entire tree, I needed to slightly tighten up the chain once (again, no tools needed -- just turn the dial). I also had to top off the chain oil reservoir (a small amount of chain oil comes with the saw) once. Less than 2 hours later, the tree was cut up into 20" chunks and stacked (I'll split it later). This baby never bogged down throughout the process. The chain remained sharp throughout. There is a built in chain sharpener so when I was done, I gave a quick pull of the sharpening lever and it brought it back to razor sharp in like 3 seconds. It's all ready to go for the next time. We'll see how this goes with time, but right out of the box, this thing is really pretty amazing.UPDATED March 1, 2023Over the last few days, I've dropped four rather large trees, one of which is about 20" in diameter (oak!) about easily 65' tall. This saw continues to amaze me. The chain oil fill lasts about 1.5 hours of nearly continuous cutting. It gives me a great excuse to take a break. As I was cutting this up into 20" lengths for firewood, I noticed it works really well up to about 14-15" diameter oak logs, but larger than that, well, it takes a while. I think I'll save the thicker stuff for the gas-powered noise machine.Speaking of noise, I put a decibel meter on this little guy and it is actually loader when not under load. At 3' away, it registered about 94 db with no load and 85 db under full load. This is a whole lot better than the 115 db or so from the gas-powered saw. I hope my neighbors appreciate the difference.I keep waiting for this thing to just break from the abuse, but so far, I'm a truly happy Oregon electric owner!

Great saw!!
Well...it is heavy. Takes a few minutes to get used to a cord. The chain is different than others and can sorta kick back a little on looser pieces. It is heavy, but seems really well made. I lost my large Mulberry tree to the storms. Thought I would try this saw to cut her up, since I have an electric outlet near where it went down. I found it has loads of power and cuts like a beast. I do believe this may cut faster than my gas chainsaw. I found the tool-less chain adjuster works really well. Yes, the onboard chain sharpener works, although I keep my blade out of the dirt if I can. After about 5 hours of use I did hit the blade sharpener lever just for kicks. I works! I noticed it was cutting faster! I love the saw and a great price as well.

Highly recommend for infrequent chainsaw users.
For those that need a chainsaw infrequently, this is the one for you. It is electric powered, so you don't have to keep a gas engine operational. If the chain gets dull, a few seconds of pushing the sharpening lever and it is ready to go. Use the recommended chain oil, as it is lighter than what I am use to but it works great. I cut up a down tree in my back yard that was over 24" in diameter at the the base. Best chainsaw experience I have had, it is light to run, not as loud as a gas chainsaw. It makes lots of chips and cuts as good as a gas of similar size.I recommend buying a spare chain and sharpener when you buy one since it is not a standard chain. Chain lasts a long time but when it needs changed the sharpener stone needs changed too. Costs more than sharpening regular chains yourself but the time I saved was well worth the extra money.
