Great homework sheet
I use this for homework for SIXTH grade and am extremely happy with the practice it provides my students in underlining, context clues, inference, and summarizing. I purposely went a grade above their level to present a little challenge. There is one section on poetry (lyric, odes, etc) I won't use for homework because it doesn't provide enough depth of information for students to feel confident of their answers. Each assignment has one page of text and one page of related questions which range from multiple choice, yes or no, to short answer and summarizing. I do each assignment to familiarize myself with the challenges the material may present to the kids which cuts down on homework review time. I can quickly point to the area that would have answered their question. Just a quick check of the answers and discussion of any problems provides immediate feedback to the kids. They get to practice test taking skills in the comfort of their homes with no time limits. I would say the average kid can complete the assignment in about 15-20 minutes. The non-fiction topics are interesting (The Irish Famine, Pirates, Mummies...) and provide a nice, consistent pattern for homework expectations from one of their five classes.

Homeschool parent approved
I really like this book I think it would pair well with a dictionary for homeschool reading because it does include words that seem like spelling words to learn...I love how this book has variety and has many multiple choice answers..it's not at all over whelming...good purchase.

Reading comprehension
The workbook has a good amount of learning objectives. However I think I may need to order something for myself because I am now questioning my own comprehension skills. The answer key is in the back but it would be helpful if it explained why that is the answer so when I'm explaining to my son the answers and why. One lesson I had to just table my response because I was confused. Also the layout can be a little off. Example my son did not see an answer because it was tucked up near the header. He says he would have chosen it had he seen it. Overall, I like this workbook, just would like for some of the answers to be explained as to why that is the correct choice.

Great
Well was about 3 weeks didn't get it so I notified them and they sent me another one in place of it I explained to them I was homeschooling my daughter and needed it was about to run out of material got the 2nd one a week later. I never received the first one guess it got lost in mail at any rate things like this happens. I was well pleased with the book it has more pages than I thought which was a good thing. It was worth the wait and they was nice enough to replace the lost one. This was exactly what I wanted. I also looked over the book and this is what she needed for her reading comprehension she is Dyslexia and it is so great to find something that will help her, and she loves the stories and they are just at right amount of reading not to long to keep her focused and interested.

Great reading supplement to help practice specific reading skills
I bought this to help tutor one of my 8th grade students who was at a fairly low reading level. He started out the trimester really struggling in all of his classes, but especially English, Social Studies, and Science. This was a great help, because each lesson has engaging stories and focused skill practice. The table of contents lists what skill the student will practice on each lesson, so you can pick and choose the skills you want to focus on for more direct practice. After using this book for a few weeks, my 8th grader saw a significant improvement in his grades across the board.

Very glad I got this book, I love the short page lessons/stories.
A good mix of types of stories to read. Nice one page lessons with a page of questions or review. This is not a full lesson worth but it is a good supplement, or something to have in the go. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Easy for Middle School student
My 4th grader he is doing it now. Honestly, he is not good at language aspect. That's why I try to help him here. I bought this book originally for his brother, a middle school grader. But somehow turned to the end, he take over it. So far he is doing some of them. He didn't complain this book is too hard for him. I am not sure for the rest of book how he is doing. But I believe this book is good for elementry school kids is better.

Fabulous!
I homeschool my 13 yr old a couple days a week, and was extremely pleased to come across this Reading Comprehension workbook. My 8th grader has Dyslexia and I have found this to be an excellent tool for us to read very interesting and engaging stories, that involve Social Studies, Science, History, Geography, fiction, non-fiction and poetry, literary classics, etc. I have personally noticed that by working with my child, this book has enhanced my student's reading comprehension. We both look forward to the entertaining topics that motivate to learn. This book is helping strengthen reading skills. Dyslexia can be challenging, but with tools such as this, I see reading fluency improve and a deeper knowledge developing. I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend!
