I have a sand filter for my (small) pond. Can I replace sand with this material? Does this material have a longer life than sand?

Thank you for your interest. There is more difference between a quality Pond Filter and a sand filter than just the media. The laterals in a sand filter have very small perforations so that the sand does not escape. Therefore, with a sand filter, even if you replace the sand with a good quality "bead filter media" your filter will still clog more frequently with dirty pond water than you will likely appreciate. It would be well worth your while in the long run to buy a K Plus Pressure Filter with all of the arts to begin with. Filters and the laterals in them are designed for different medias and different flow rates etc. You can make your own filter and use one of many medias but your results will be less predictable and won't come with engineering specifications that you can count on.
