Can not get rid the loud hissing feedback sound, any suggestions, using windows 7

You know I ran into this exact same problem, among other problems with this cam. After many hours of researching the problem I ran across a truly viable solution in a tech blog. To fix this problem I was told to follow these instructions:1. Unplug cam from system.2. Place cam inside of a plastic bag; the smaller kind that you get at the store.3. Place that bag inside of a second bag.4. From your local hardware store purchase one (1) hammer.5. After making certain that the plastic bags are secure around cam, place bag on a concrete walkway or sidewalk.6. Begin hammering until the sounds begin to resemble that of small flakes of plastic.If the problem persists after this manual upgrade, you may wish to return it to the store where you purchased it.PROBLEM SOLVED EMOTIONALLY AT THE VERY LEAST.

No camera - no software. I only use it for Skype.

The camera is no longer supported. Microsoft has deliberately blocked it from being recognized. They really shouldn't be selling it anymore. It actually worked fine on windows 10 before the update where they blocked it.

Is the camera and software fully compatible with windows 10?

Well, it seems to work with the latest Windows 10. Online people have reported a lot of problems. But my opinion stays the same. This is a really old camera with low resolution. I just bought one at Goodwill for 5.99. So far very good luck with the Microsoft webcams, but look for newer models.
