This product is amazing. Great alternative if I miss the range due to work. Able to correct/work my draw and practice basic fundamentals without the cost of the range and ammo.Pros: Easy set up, Portable, everything is included. App tracks multiple weapons. Data is pretty close to what my shot timer displays.Cons: Resetting the hammer/striker each time. Makes it difficult for rapid follow up shot trainingWill definitely recommend

I was a bit skeptical that for $149 this would be a worthwhile effort at indoor CCW training. Great reviews, but you know . . . If you are looking at this product you know it’s difficult for non live fire training to be effective. Ok I stand ready for my 1st 5 star review in ages!Well in a nutshell, Mantis Laser Academy is a wonderful training tool. As an added bonus it’s fun! You get a lot of stuff with the full kit. Large and small targets. The targets are on heavy card stock & good target selection. A lightweight full size telescoping tripod (with Bluetooth but not sure why). A small tabletop tripod. Tabletop target stands. Cell phone holder that works with both tripods. The portable pouch that holds all the stuff except large targets and large tripod. An added bonus with the regular $149 kit is a full lifetime subscription to Mantis that unlocks a bunch of effective and fun “pro” drills. One of them is a draw “duel” between 2 people. The other would need a Pink Rhino cartridge for their firearm. AND you get the laser cartridge of your choice. Mine was 9mm, but I added .45 since I switch between them.It’s only been about 3 weeks, but I intend to buy one for my cheap CCW friend who thinks it’s a toy. Nope it’s not a toy! Actually very effective tool for target picture, draw & presentation, trigger control & handling & more. You will learn to tame recoil flip at the range and save a bunch of ammo with this. I am blown away with this Mantis product. I could say much more, but that is enough. You won’t be disappointed. Get one before they raise the price to $250.

Great value, high quality components. Perfectly usable in my small apartment, quick to set up and take down. All the various bits are available ala carte for replacements if needed, including different caliber laser cartridges.

This is a fun product that keeps dry fire practice interesting. There are lots of drills to keep you fresh, and you can do some things that aren't allowed at a public range (holster drills, etc). There's also a tutorial series with videos that can teach you the basics.Ive had a little bit of trouble with the targets not being recognized in certain lighting. The target cards are semi-glossy and glare into the camera seems to be the problem. Its not a major issue. I just rotate that target stand a tiny bit and its usually fine.It comes with two sets of targets. The smaller setup is small and portable. You can easily bring it to a friend's house to have some fun. I keep it set up in my living room and it doesn't take up much space.The laser doesn't seem to be very accurate. To me its not really useful beyond 7 yards.

Man, wish I had bought this system long ago. I'm in Rapid City and it is nice to be able to shoot in my home whenever I want. The closest range to me costs $35 an hour which I believe is too expensive and the National Forest where I typically shoot is cold this time of year. Very realistic shooting practice as far as sight picture and shot placement goes. There are about twenty different drills which are great for training. I even practice with my glasses off for an extra challenge. In the Miami FBI shooting one of the agents lost his glasses in the gun battle and it had a negative effect on his performance. I am working hard on that one so if I ever have to shoot without my spectacles I will be just as accurate as if I was wearing them.Setup is a breeze. I had trouble redeeming my code to unlock all of the training modules. I bought the $149 kit which comes with the larger targets and the 4 foot high phone tripod. The smaller targets and small tripod also come with the higher priced kit. The lower priced kit would be fine if you want to save $50. You can't go wrong with the smaller system, believe me.Anyway, I am not very bright and could not figure out how to redeem my code so I called the telephone number included in the kit. I was prepared for a long button pushing ordeal before I might possibly talk to a human. To my surprise a representative of Mantis picked up immediately. It was as if I was calling across town to a friend. He set me straight and the entire call couldn't have lasted longer than 90 seconds. Amazing service man.My EDC is a Springfield XD Mod 2 chambered in .45 ACP. I have shot around 500 rounds already using the various drills. I especially like the "reload" drill where you have to eject a magazine, reload, and then shoot. The hits are scored and timed. I'm never going to get in a gun battle, I know this, but it's good to know if I actually did I would be able to reload and be back on target as fast as a Special Forces Operator.Well, you know what I mean.If you're on the fence I'm telling you now to jump off and get this system.I've been spending so much time in the garage shooting my wife forgets I'm home and sneaks her boyfriend over. He's a good guy.

I've got about 3 hours in with training with this system. Works pretty well for the most part. As others have mentioned, the tripods could be a bit better - not a deal breaker though. Occasionally I have to futz with it because it won't recognize the target. And then it occasionally just starts recording shots when my firearm is in the holster. So I just wait it out and then restart the drill.Overall, I think it is a useful system with some minor issues.
