Q: Is this just a box of cards to supplement the Dixit board game?

Yes. This is just an expansion deck. No playing board or pieces, just cards. You can see from the pictures that the expansion deck boxes are narrow. The sets that include the playing board are square. Q: Is this the first print run? the one with the gold cards?

I bought it last year and unfortunately it isn't first print. Actually I didn't even know about it. It is more expensive than other expansions(at time it was reasonable to me as I thought I'd find some golden foiled cards) but offers more of the same. It is not worthy it and I am completely disappointed. If I knew about this "first print run" I wouldn't have taken the risk and I'd have bought the Harmonies expansion. Sadly, I'm from Brazil and I discovered it only home (I didn´t open the box in USA).

Yes. This deck, Revelations, is just the cards. The expansion packs, such as this one, come in narrow rectangular boxes and only contain the deck of 84 cards. The stand alone sets that contain the board and pieces come in larger square boxes. If the box looks like a square it is a full game, if it looks like a narrow rectangle it is just the cards. There are lots of editions of each set so I understand your confusion. Only Dixit, Dixit Odyssey, and Dixit: Journey come as stand alone games.
