Very sharp very useful
Have been after a Mandoline for a while now. Was originally going to get the original Benriner that you see all the chefs using on TV. But after looking into it, was worried that someone may get hurt using it incorrectly and slicing a finger. Opted for the Oxo Good grips mandoline slicer because. V shaped blade seems to make it easier to cut various items, from starchy potatoes, hard carrots, soft tomatoes, onions, lemons, oranges etc, It cuts very well. It is very easy to adjust the thickness of the cut with a simple dial. No need to worry about adjusting both sides to make it even. One dial controls the thickness. It has a built in stand that lifts up the top and at a slant so you can slice away with ease, not having to manually support the weight of the mandoline as you slice. Included with the kit was julienne attachments, which are very useful they make great french fries. The finger guard works well, leaving only a small amount of fruit or vegetable behind that cannot be cut. Storage, the whole thing including attachments clip and store inside the mandoline making storage a breeze. Clean up is ok, however before using it, I remove any attachments I don't need and set aside, otherwise they will get dirty even though your not using them.Very happy with this purchase, makes food prep a breeze and saves a lot of time.

A slice of heaven?
I was looking for a new mandolin for domestic use: to help with preparing Chinese and Indian style dishes, summer salads, potato and vegetable gratins etc. one relatively safe to use (you always have to take care with a mandolin!) and capable of doing a range of cuts and thicknesses. In general this Oxo product really fits the bill.Straight out of the box it is initially a bit confusing until you work out how bits fit into other bits but once you've had a a play around and found the knack to assembling the different blades and combinations and putting them away again in the storage sections you actually start to think this is rather cleverly designed. If you are using it regularly putting it together will become second nature and straightforward. In use it feels relatively solid and has a good wide deck (an important feature).. And it is sharp! For those of a more nervous disposition the food holding tool is also a clever design. For domestic use it pretty much covers everything I want to do though sometimes the thicker cuts need a bit of effort - but I think that may be relatively endemic, at least to all non-professional mandolins. Then to cleaning. Again having used them before most are a bit fiddly to clean properly. It is just a feature of the tool. I wouldn't pick out this product as any worse than any other I've used and it is easier than some.Lastly storage. The way all the blades clip in the body of the deck and the way the products folds down flat means it is economical on the space it consumes for a larger size mandolin. Also, if you are disciplined enough to use the storage system then say goodbye to hunting around at the bottom of some cupboard for the lost blade you know you had last time. All in all this is a good, sturdy, cleverly designed kitchen tool - a little slice of heaven.

Great slicer
Not had one of these before and recognize you need to be very careful with them but it is as safe as it can be and very easy to use as well as easy to clean.

Too complicated and dangerous
It was sharp but it definitely not one of the best. I found a lot of wastage, it was too complicated to work with and time consuming. Its too dangerous as well, easily can give you a cut even if you’re careful. I literally got a cut at the end when I was assembling it (Just realised, I wasn’t attending to put that finger up like that 😖)

Over 8 years of use and still going strong
Bought it recently again for a present for a family member. However we have had same one for over 8 years now and it is amazing , simple, long lasting kitchen device. Quality of plastics and steel blades are top league. It is not fragile, cheap plastic. We don't wash it in dishwasher anymore as this is causing plastic to age faster. Despite being used every single day for over 8 years, all blades are still sharp and none of the clip latches are broken. Some tiny cracks appeard on main blade insert after few years of use, but I belive it is a result of putting it in dishwasher. My wife accidently put a hot pan on it in sink some time ago and plastic just slightly melted as seen on photos. If I could I would give it 6 stars or more.

Very handy (and safe) mandoline slicer
Brilliant gadget - perfect for making homemade coleslaw - and the easily swappable blades make grating just as easy as finely slicing. It's easy to use, easy to clean and being from OXO Good Grips it's a sturdy piece of kit. It also takes up very little room in the kitchen (which is a plus).

New toy for hubby.
I bought this for hubby to use. (It's very sharp and I would slice myself!) It's brill. The veg holder and finger shield is effective. Don't try to test how sharp the blades are - they are! really useful tool to make garnishes and fine slices without the hassle.

On the whole great
A brilliant bit of kit that is very versatile. It has a lot of different (treacherous) blades cleverly hidden within. The only thing is it is a bit fiddly to clean.Definitely a dishwasher job if you don’t want to inadvertently slash yourself! All said and done though it slices beautifully and quickly and if used carefully is very safe.
