Boss rc10r - best looper for built in rhythm.
Absolutely brilliant! Wish I had bought one a long time ago... Do not be put off by suggestions that it is difficult to use - it is not. The additional functions available over lesser loopers will take a little longer to learn, but you will be using it like a pro in no time! For the functions that it offers it is great value for money. It comes with its own (excellent) power supply. The built in rhythm is a standout feature of this looper. Each track that you produce has two rhythm parts available in addition to fill ins, intro's and outro's. You can also combine two (or more) track(s) together by using an additional foot switch (not supplied) to get even more rhythm variety. Sound quality is excellent. Build quality is excellent.Highly recommended -You won't be disappointed if you go for it!

Iconic little box for global megastars to bedroom beginners and everyone in-between
It's an already 'classic' product, widely used and familiar. My first impressions upon the purchase? it 'does what it says on the tin' - literally - and does it very well. Functionality is basic, but for anything more sophisticated there are bigger boxes which can do more. And for anywhere outside street busking, there are computers and programs that can do a lot more.Solidly built, as you can expect from the brand and the class of stomp-boxes, electronically functional and reliable, and easy to understand / learn to operate. The slightly more difficult part - smooth on-stage operation and performance -comes with practice and I haven't had the time for that yet. But in the first minutes of owning the RC-1 I was confidently recording loops and having fun jamming with myself, it's that simple. In addition to the included printed instructions, there are many online videos that show how to use it and provide great ideas of what can be done.I am perhaps satisfied because I didn't expect miracles, already knew exactly the capabilities of this unit, and the experience fully met my expectations. Any disappointed users I have come across simply had unrealistic expectations because they had not made the effort to research the product in advance. Yes, it's basic and limited - but within its limitations, the possibilities are nonetheless... endless! :)

Excellent!
I can't believe that they can make this for the money. Excellent piece of gear. A bit of a learning curve but that's because it's so versatile. The 5 pin DIN Midi in & out allowing direct connections to outboard equipment makes it perfect. Excellent service from the supplier. 10/10

Great pedal. Be careful of spillages!
Fantastic features. Relatively easy to use. However, extremely vulnerable to spillage when gigging. This is now my 2nd unit. So many points of entry for liquid. Otherwise, a 5 star review.

Already own one? Buy Another to upgrade to 4 tracks!
I know there are some big name loopers out there, that are all the rage at the moment, but,They cost a lot more money. I was going to upgrade to 6 track looper but realised, playing only a couple of instruments at anyone time I actually only require 4 tracks. So then it became no brainer. I already own a Boss RC 500,which has been so good, why not just get another one and sync them, giving me 4 tracks. With the purchase of the required Boss midi cable, they work great together. Though the RC unit can be linked to other midi compatible looper brands, I decidedany issues will be far less staying with Boss. The new Unit is just as Solid (performance and build), as you would expect. With the undo/redo function, I technically have eight tracks to play with! So it’s a viable option for all those out there that don’t have the cash to upgrade to a new, bigger looper, but already have one Boss RC500 unit that they are using. The huge amount you save balances out any frills you think you might be missing out on, on the bigger more costly loopers, in my opinion.

recreating the sound at excellent quality. With the volume knob at 12 o'clock ...
My first Boss out of many pedal purchases. I have to say what people say about the build quality rings true, it's solid and really well put together. This is also my first experience of the Boss style large springy footswitch, and I'm wondering why more companies don't adapt it - you can't miss! This is chiefly going to be used for laying down some 12 bar rhythm to practice licks over. Have had a quick go and it handles this with aplomb, recreating the sound at excellent quality. With the volume knob at 12 o'clock I did have to step on a Tubescreamer once I'd recorded the rhythm as the loop volume was quite loud. So maybe turn it down for these purposes or use your guitar volume knob on a quieter setting for the rhythm.I have also tried a couple of overdubs and these were easy to achieve and reproduced well. One thing (for the way I will use it) is the default order for pedal presses isn't ideal, although there is a fix which is in the instructions, which changes the order to record, playback, dub. Otherwise your first press is to record another layer. Just bear this in mind if you watch Youtube demos and don't like the double tap to stop function, you can change it out.The LED wheel has good visibility and works with a visual 'countdown' to give a further aid to synchronising your playing, should you need it.This comes equipped with a battery. I'm powering it through a Voodoo Labs PP2, it is a normal 9v connection but the current draw is 85 Ma which means it'll need it's own connection on similar supplies (dedicated daisy chains are different). I couldn't find this info in the instructions. One last tip for anyone new to this, if you are putting blues rhythm down for example then start playing during the turnaround bars of the 'previous' section, kicking record on beat one of your I chord after that. This will result in a natural feeling loop, starting on beat one bar one can cause problems.Strongly recommended. Once you get a few licks under your belt I can't think of a better practice tool.
