Well made brushes- minimal issues.
I am just starting my watercolor and gouache painting journey. I was looking for an inexpensive, but good quality brush set. I purchased this brush set because of the travel case and the low cost. The handle is light, and the classic design makes it appealing to the eye. It’s not as short as other travel sets, but I prefer a long handle to help me adjust my pressure. Again, it’s light so it doesn’t mess with precision. The crimp is made of wire on the round brushes, and flat brushes have a crimped metal ferrule. The ferrule on the round brushes appears to be made of plastic. I haven’t experienced any rusting on the metal ferrules or the wire crimps as of writing this (about 3 weeks after purchase). The brushes are synthetic taklon, which is a common fiber to use in synthetic brushes. It holds a lot of water, and generally reforms well after drying. The pointy tips have not de-pointed, which is something I’ve experienced with other synthetic brushes. I have experienced very minimal fraying as well. Maybe a few bristles out of place, but nothing crazy or unmanageable. Overall, I feel these brushes have been a fantastic beginner set. The large flat brushes have been great for washing my paper with water, and I’ve been able to use almost all the brushes so far. My only complaint is that the wire crimps occasionally snag the cloth I use to dry my brushes, but it has been so mild that it doesn’t detract from my rating. If it becomes an issue I can use pliers to press them back into the ferrule. In my photo you can see an example of the very minor fraying I’ve experienced, as well as more detail of the crimp and ferrules. Also! The brushes are very stiff when they arrive. Watercolor brushes often have a stiffening agent added to the bristles for protection during packaging. To remove it, swirl the brushes in water (don’t force them against the bottom of the cup), and gently swipe them against the side of your water cup to wash the stiffening product out of the brush.

Wonderful watercolor set.
This is a very nice set. Nicely made. Holds a lots of water and color. The wood handles give this set the look of being hand made.

Quite impressed!
I'm totally in love with these and wish I had found them sooner! I am hoping they have more now because I want a larger selection of the same brushes. They are aesthetically pleasing and feel so good to hold. The painting capacity is perfect in all ways and I've had no trouble yet loosing hairs or anything. I did do the hot soak to get the rice binder off (that I read about in the comments here), and it was an enjoyable process. I've made a few WC paintings so far and they're holding their shapes perfectly. Just be sure to lay them flat for drying too and let them dry in the shape you want them in to ensure they stay that way. The bristles are amazing! I wish the case was made of a nicer material to match the authentic old-world feel of the brushes, but the case works great for travel and the brush holder pieces are tight to hold them in place too, so really it's just perfect! Try em and enjoy!!

Fantastic!
So far I am LOVING these brushes! I used the size zero to paint this whole picture, and the size 30 flat to wet the background. Excellent water retention and I love the point on my 0 brush. Exactly what I was looking for!

Watercolor brushes
These are particularly fine watercolor brushes- for a great price. They quickly became my favorite- go to every time- brushes. I think not for oil paints- and I would worry about acrylic paint getting up in the brush and ruining them- but for watercolor- Definately yes! Shape-yes- and good diversity of shapes. Definately usable. Size- yes. Shorter handles, not long handles- but well balanced and a pretty perfect length. Ease of Holding- yes. Case- yes (make sure you let the brush stay out to dry completely before you close them back in the case). Durability? I will see over time. I expect a good brush to last decades. I am still using brushes I bought 55 years ago!

Was I Surprised With These Brushes!
I received these yesterday. I have ordered before and cancelled. Unsure of these brushes. Why did I cancel?!?! I’m like the reviewer who ordered a backup now! They are wonderful watercolor brushes!! I’m not a loose painter usually, I love details., but to sit down a paint a loose peony, or rose, the filbert and the rounds are excellent for peonies and rounds and the angle for roses, at least for me! The brushes are beautiful and I have yet to find 1 stay hair from any of them! They are firm and not floppy. Lovely pouch to keep these beauties together when dry. The rounds hold their points, depending upon the pressure, squiggles can be made with all rounds, even the 4! The round number 3, I was not sure of it’s use. I’m not skilled in all brushes and their uses, but I’ve been using it as a mop for sky and water, and a pouncer for foliage. It’s works wonderful for both! (Should anyone know what it’s for, please do a review on it). I love them. Just might order that back up!😁
