Most Comfortable Option for Backrubs
I have chronic back pain and enjoy massages at home and this allows me to be much more comfortable than laying on my face with my neck twisted sideways on a standard pillow. I still get sore on my forehead after about an hour but it seems hard to avoid when laying on your face. I can breathe more easily and relax with this.

Eye surgery
This was great during my Retina detached

Great for retinal detachment surgery
After my surgery, I had to lay face down all day for 1 week. This pillow was perfect. It was soft and comfortable. It was firm enough to support my weight and could be adjusted for comfort. Highly recommend.

So-so
Not as comfortable as I had hoped. Even with the vents open in the back it’s still a bit suffocating.

Very Uncomfortable
Recovering from a vitrectomy is difficult enough, and I thought this pillow might help with face down head positioning. For me it was terrible. The hole that your face sits in is too small, and ends up putting pressure on the side of your eyes. If you reposition your head so that your surgery eye is centered, then your nose will be pushed against the side and it will make it hard to breathe. Worse than the small hole size is the steep angle of the pillow and wedge. It arches your neck and shoulders back to be able to place your face and head into the elevated hole. This reverse arching is extremely uncomfortable after a very short time. It’s not like you are laying flat on a massage table with your face placed in the opening. Since there is no opening on the bed where you place this pillow, the opening is created by you arching your neck and shoulders back about 10 inches and the opening is created by the stacked pillows. Bending my neck and shoulders back like a banana was terribly uncomfortable for me. I did better just lying flat and hanging my head over the edge of the bed.

This is the one!!
I have tried numerous other Face/Prone pillows and none of them were comfortable. They were actually uncomfortable. This one is truly the one you can actually fall asleep using. My problem is not eye surgery recovery, but is an ongoing issue of pressure sores on my bottom. I am wheel chair bound, and I need relief from recurring pressure sores.I have MS and have severe atrophy in my lower body due to my inability to walk. I have no “cushion” anymore to keep my bony self comfortable.Lying on my side in bed provides relief, but I cannot always lay that way without having pain in my greater trochanter area.I needed to find a way to lye on my stomach to relive the pressure in my bottom and sides. Also, with limited head rotation due to cervical spine fusion, sleeping on my stomach with my head turned to the side is not an option.I have found this face pillow to be the perfect solution. It is constructed of very soft material, and is firm enough to keep my face elevated and breath without problems. It also assists in elevating my torso, lessening the on my neck as my face is elevated in the pillow. I do however, need to keep an additional pillow under my chest to elevate it more.Others have complained that the hole is too small. I have a big head, and it fits me well. Of course I do not have to worry about any eye pressure against the cushion, as I have not had eye surgery. If the hole was any bigger, it would not support the weight of my head anyways, and my face would just fall through hole. This is the face cushion you need if you are trying so lye on your stomach, and you can’t turn your head.

True lifesaver / sight saver
I got this the day before my eye surgery for detached retina. What a fantastic healing pillow. The awful, useless pillow they provided after the surgery was absurd. Not sure how anyone could heal properly using that crappy thing. This pillow was incredible. For eight days I had to keep my head looking down. For 55 minutes of every hour for eight days straight - it was crazy. But I wanted to be sure to give myself the best chance at saving my vision so I spent the $60 for this and I'm so happy I did! This pillow feels so soft and luxurious against my face. I removed the Velcro'd extension pillow and propped a small fan under the edge and spend hundreds of hours looking down. No neck aches, headaches or other issues. This pillow was fantastic.

Works well
This face-down pillow checks all my checkboxes...IMO, a good face-down pillow supports your forehead and cheeks, stays away from the eyes, limited pressure on the chin. Needs to have good ventilation so you don't feel like you're re-breathing the same air. It needs to be deep enough that your arms can angle downward comfortably and your nose doesn't touch the bed mattress.Takes some getting used to. At first, I could only go an hour or two. I have gradually increased my face-down time to 3 or 4 hours. You will probably want an additional pillow under your torso, to ramp your body up to the level of the face-down pillow. Once in position, I pull the ventilation opening further apart to enhance ventilation.
