Q: Has anyone shoveled snow or used a snowblower over the treads?

We can’t say we’ve passed a snow blower over the strips but can tell you that each strip is only about 1/8th of an inch thick. Shoveling them shouldn’t be a problem at all, we’ve done that generally by pulling the snow from the back of the step forward. We’ve sold the strips to property management companies in Whistler, BC, Canada and they use a professional snow removal company to keep the stairs clear and salted. No issues!

Q: Can 1/2" (one half inch) be trimmed from each side and still screw down properly?

there are four screw holes in each strip--equally distanced. the far left and far right screws are about 1 1/2" from the edge, so i think you could cut away 1/2" from each side and get away with it. HOWEVER, it has got to "weaken" the strength of the strip. i couldn't say how much. fyi, i think if i had to do it, i would definitely try it. i don't know if you could drill another hole, but that is another possibility....good luck. i do like the strips!

Q: Is it possible to use these on in-ground pool steps? Looking for a way to make the steps more visible during the day.

These strips are rigid with small cleats/points. They can be installed on wood or concrete (with anchors not included) and would provide great visibility however some find they too aggressive for bare feet - personal preference.
