Superman Complete Collection (5-disc Edition) [Blu-ray] [1978][Region Free] (Packaging may Vary)

This is a terrific Superman blu ray collection of 5 films and totally deserves to be added to your collection. I purchased it at $27 which is a great price. Blu ray quality in all films are excellent. It contains all 4 original films starring Christopher Reeve and 2006 Superman Returns in blu ray HD audio and video quality, plus feature commentaries and other bonus features. I also own the triple feature blu-ray collection that contains Superman, Superman II and Superman Returns 2006. The only thing this box set is missing is the Richard Donner's cut of the Superman 2. The triple feature blu ray collection has both theatrical and Director's cut of the Superman 2. This box set has only theatrical version of Superman 2. That is the only really negative thing about this box set. On the other hand, the Superman disc in this collection has cartoons and George Reeve's film which are missing from the triple feature blu ray collection. Cut a long story short, if you have the triple feature blu ray collection, keep it for the Richard Donner's cut of Superman 2. If you do not have it, then you will need to decide between this box set and the triple feature blu ray. The other reviewers have mentioned how the discs are printed in Portugese making it difficult to tell which disc has which movie. I agree with those reviews to a certain extent. I will also say that even if you insert the disc into your blu ray player and the movie menu comes up, it still doesn't indicate the name of the movie anywhere on the menu. But I think this is a very minor inconvenience. For one thing, discs are placed in the blu ray cases in the order so you will always know which movie is placed where in your blu ray cases. As long as you keep the discs in the same order as received you will never get confused. One other thing that the movie menus don't mention is the audio format (it only says language: English, etc.). The audio option in all 4 original movies is 5.1 DTS HD Audio. One other thing to add is that Superman IV: Quest for Peace has a very low rating (it is actually ranked among the worst movies of all time). I think that is unfair. It is not a great movie but certainly doesn't deserve to be ranked among the worst movies of all time, not even close. It doesn't have a very interesting plot but the production design is just as good as the production design in all previous films. I personally appreciate the old school special effects and the set designs. In that respect, the movie is very well done. The villain may be weak and the fight scenes seem to drag a bit but that is the case even with the superhero movies of today and yet recent superhero movies are rated more highly, In summary, Superman IV Quest for Peace is not as bad as people say it is. Despite its flaws, it is entertaining enough and certainly not worse than any current average superhero movie. I would rate it 3 stars. All 5 blu ray movies played perfectly on my media center PC plugged to 8K TV. Very good image quality and sound stage better than streaming. You got to admire how far we have come in technology and cinematography.I was debating about this set or the other one with Richard Donner Superman 2 cut. After watching comparisons on tube and reading online reviews, the original theater cut plot makes more sense to me. Oh yes the disc tray for Movie 2 was a bit filmsy you got to be careful not to drop it.

This is for the Superman Complete Collection (5-disc Edition) [Blu-ray] [1978][Region Free]I recommend this to anyone who enjoys the Christopher reeves movies, great picture quality and sound.

All 4 movies with Cristopher Reeve which is the best Superman ever since the original one. Also Superman Return was included in this 5 disc collection in blu ray. It was a very decent upgrade in picture and sound. Each disc identify which part is in small letters but is not an issue. The picture of the Superman that starred in each film is in every disc. The collection comes in 2 cases. Superman 1-3 in the first case and Superman 4 plus Superman Returns in the second case. Enjoy the classics!

Each disc is labeled with the name of the movie, but it's around the edge so it's not very obvious and you have to hunt for it if you can't recognize it by the picture on the disc. But the movies all play in our blu-ray player just fine. It's nice to have all the films (minus the Man of Steel franchise) in one collection!

Superman Box Set (5 disc) UK edition. Contains - Superman 1,2,3,4 and Superman Returns (Theatrical Cuts) with DTS-HD MA audio tracks. This set is a tremendous bargain and plays on Region 1 players without issues. Contains extras, documentaries, cartoons, deleted Soufle scene (Superman II).Picture and Sound are excellent. Certain shots (some exteriors with process shots) seem to have inherent extra film grain or video noise (possibly). Close-ups are pleasing and color is great.Yes, the discs are labeled in very small type around the edge of each disc. Superman II is apparent with the art work showing Reeve exiting the crystal chamber that removed his powers. For collectors and super fans, please check out the "Extended Edition" also available om Blu ray with 40 extra minutes shown during the television premiere.

What really impressed me about this series was the time it took to get Superman to fly. Even the beginning where the titles would come at you and the music would just say Superman, you could tell this movie would be something. I have to admit that even though I was born and raised on The Adventures of Superman, I was still blown away by this one. I was only in my early 20s by the time I saw this ,this was not some early Batman from 10 years ago with a pow zap crossing the screen, this was the real thing .
