Yeah, sorry if it's of not much help for you now, but, having looked into it for my sister's macbook, there seems to be varying reports on the internet. These are specified for the 2012 Macbook Pro as they use a faster clock rate of 1600Mhz, as opposed to 1333Mhz that is specified by Apple for pre-2012 Macbook Pros. Now, many people have tested these faster RAM modules in the older 2011 MacBooks and found that they work fine - the controversy seems to be whether they run at their specified clock rate of 1600Mhz, or whether they get down clocked to 1333Mhz (i.e run slower) by the computer. Main points: Yes, they should work, but get the other 16GB RAM that's clocked at 1333Mhz (you can go to Crucial's website - they'll show you exactly what you need) if it's cheaper.

The 16gb is working absolutely fine in my machine despite what the apple site says. I had the same concern you had but I found a site which confirmed the crucial 16gb memory would work without any problem. I am running Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. After installing yosemite my computer had become extremely slow. The new memory transformed it and gave it a new lease of life.
