Fantastic upgrade for older printers
After reading so many negative reviews below, I felt I needed to write my own because I love this little red guy I got on Black Friday. It replaced my 5 year old Pixma 3000 series and it simply blows it out of the water on everything:- Printing is much faster and the Wi-Fi data transfer happens much faster- It feels much more responsive- The color quality is wonderful (pictures and documents)- It's quieter than the older printerI felt like I was rolling the dice on this printer's purchase, but I'm thrilled with it. I suspect that either a bunch of people got a lemon, or they simply can't follow basic instructions or don't know basic networking to set up the devices. Some people reported issues with Wi-Fi setup - my router has two networks (one on 2.4 and the other on 5Gig) - I had to change my PC's network from 5G and downgraded it to 2.4G as this printer doesn't work on the AC protocol, but does on N. Once I did that, and went to the link from the user manual, the setup was flawless on my PC. I don't particularly care for the software the Canon offers, nor do I appreciate the attempts at getting me to agree to send anonymous data to them, but other than that, this is a fantastic printer and a much needed upgrade to my old unit. Plus it looks great in red.Another review said it was extremely loud - this is simply not my experience. Lemon? So, wanted to set the record straight because I almost didn't buy this printer because of the negative reviews. My only dislike is that there are a lot of pieces to this printer, and all of them are plastic which give it a slightly flimsy feel. But since it's a sub-$100 printer, I really can't fault it for it. It doesn't impact performance - just don't know how long the parts will last without breaking.Hope this review helps those looking at getting it.

Excellent Print Quality - 2 Year Review
I purchased this printer as a way to print my CD designs as needed for our church. I have been very impressed with the quality of the prints and the ink usage. As you can see, this is very heavy ink coverage but I am able to do 25 - 30 CDs before replacing any cartridges.

Very Nice Printer---Ink Too Expensive!
Hats off to the seller--I received this printer 11/2 weeks EARLY! Great packaging and absolutely no damage in shipping. All the "parts" were in the box and the printer itself was perfect. I have had these TS8220 printers in the past and they are EXCELLENT for any process. The printer can be operated remotely from your computer and HAS auto-on settings. Do not listen to the folks who tell you otherwise. They do not know what they are speaking of!Also, be CERTAIN to use ONLY original Canon Ink Cartridges. In so doing you will be protecting the operation of the printer for a very long time. Also, by using Canon cartridges you will not receive any readings that tell you the cartridge cannot be seen/identified/approved/etc.FYI there is a small disk holding tray shipped ABOVE the main paper drawer----in case you are looking for it. You will need it to print some work.Be sure to download the Canon TS8220 Utilities from Canon. This software will load on to your computer and will help with remote operation and many, many, many settings. It is too bad Canon does not make this printer anymore. It IS a great printer. Buy it--you will be happy!!

Decent Printer
I am using this product for my home office and it's more compact than I imagined. This is not a bad thing as it fits beside my desk and is not bulky. The setup was not difficult at all and as for any network connection setup, I had no issue whatsoever. I will say that instead of using the SSID instructions on the manual CD, I just used the WPS option on the printer itself and that worked faster than the manual way. So far, there have been no issues in print quality and the quiet mode helps with the noise. The ink does lower noticeably when I ran a few test prints, so if this is for people who print a lot, then I would choose another printer. However, if you're more of a home user that does not need to print daily then this printer is for you.

Don't Purchase!!!!
First, let's talk prints. The prints look great. I imagine they look just as great as I'd get on any other printer for the price range. It's easy to set up. It's easy to use. However.... the problems.I've had this printer for about six months now. The last 3 months I have been riddled with notification about ink tanks being empty. I don't know how many I threw away without looking at them, but some of the ink tanks are actually half, three-quarters or somewhere in between full. These ink cartridges are crazy expensive compared to the previous IP7220 that I owned. Almost 3x more! I'm bleeding money in ink cartridges. So I got online and tried all the troubleshooting things I could find. Nothing has worked. Now, it's been almost six months and it's simply not registering new ink cartridges anymore. My yellow won't print at all. I've cleaned the print heads manually. I've done all the maintenance steps. It's just worthless. Easily the worst printer I have ever owned.

Wrong printer
I had to return this item. It wasn’t the right kind of printer for the work load that we needed it for.

Never works when I'm in a hurry to print something.
I have over 20 years experience with printers. My previous printer was very similar to this one. This new printer hardly ever goes on automatically, like I set it to do, when I go to print something from my laptop. So I turn it on manually. Then there is that long delay. I keep getting the flag on my PC saying the printer is off line even though the info displayed on the printer says that it's connected. I then have to momentarily unplug the printer AC cord to restart it. Then it usually prints. I've tried both wireless direct and WiFi connections. Very aggravating. I have a feeling I will have to connect directly to my laptop with a printer cable.
