Is this different shades of grey?

Yes it is. Here is the write-up from the Lion Yarns website: With solids, heathers, and beautiful self-striping 'painterly' colors, Homespun® comes in gorgeous shades you'll love. Please note that some colors have long, slow color variations that cause them to subtly stripe. This is deliberate and adds to the beauty of the finished garment; such yarns are designated as our 'painterly' colors.

Having problems with Lion Brand Homespun Yarn twisting while working with it.

I'm a crocheter so I'm not sure what would happen in that case. I don't have problems with it twisting (though sometimes there will be a few inches of yarn that are NOT twisted as they should be). I will say it's not always the easiest yarn to use--it can be hard to see where to insert the hook. I use a big hook (N?), only use the most basic stitches, keep it loose and work more by feel than by sight. Hope this helps a little.

So very soft!

Super soft, beautiful colours, but not for beginners. The twist is very loose so it can get fluffy and catch on the needles. One for more experienced yarn lovers.
