The Kitchen Shears That Made Me Question My Knife Loyalty...
Okay, confession time: I used to think fancy kitchen shears were a bit... extra. Like, weren't regular scissors just fine? Oh, how naive I was. These Shun Multi Purpose Kitchen Shears arrived, and my culinary world tilted slightly on its axis.First off, they look serious. Sleek, black, and with a name like "Shun," you know they mean business. Holding them, they feel solid and well-balanced. My old kitchen scissors, which were probably designed for cutting construction paper, immediately hid in the back of the utensil drawer, whispering about retirement plans. But the performance! These things cut through everything with an almost alarming ease. Chicken bones? Snip. Tough herb stems? Snip. That ridiculously over-engineered plastic packaging that always requires a small act of violence to open? SNIP. It's like they laugh in the face of resistance. And the "multi-purpose" isn't just marketing jargon. Bone notch? Check. Bottle opener? Check. Nutcracker? Check. Jar opener? Check. Screwdriver tips?! Check! I'm pretty sure if the apocalypse happens, I'll just need these shears and a can of beans. They're the Swiss Army Knife of kitchen gadgets. The fact that the blades come apart for cleaning is genius. No more trying to awkwardly scrub around the pivot point, hoping you got all the raw chicken residue. They pop apart, you wash 'em, pop 'em back together. Easy.Using these shears has genuinely made certain kitchen tasks faster and less annoying. Breaking down a chicken is no longer a wrestling match. Opening stubborn jars is a breeze. I even used the screwdriver tip to tighten a wobbly cabinet handle the other day. My toolkit is jealous.Yes, they cost more than your average pair of kitchen scissors. But these aren't average. They're superior. They're durable, incredibly sharp, and ridiculously versatile. They've earned their prime spot in my knife block (sorry, knives, you have to share now).If you want kitchen shears that can handle pretty much anything you throw at them and make you feel slightly more prepared for the end times, get these. They are a game-changer.

This one is Made in Japan. Higher Quality..
This one is made in Japan. The other competitors that look identical but are made in China. I'll take my chances with these lasting longer.

It is barely worth the extra $
I've been using one of these for 3 years now . I ihink the best test of a pair of shears is breaking down a chicken, and the Shun gets an A+. Separates the backbone with minimal effort. The notch easily goes through wing and leg joints. The quality of the steel is excellent, I run it through the dishwasher and have not seen a spot of rust ever. There are a couple of gimmicks Shun could drop. There is a twist off bottle opener that can grab a ketchup or bbq sauce cap, but nothing larger than about 1 1/4 inch diameter. And there is an old fashioned lever bottle opener for beer and soda caps while almost every beverage company in the western world uses twist off caps. And those things at the end of the handle that look like screwdrivers? For what? Come on Shun. Look at the calendar. This is 2025. Lose some of the useless frills and knock a few $ off the price.
