I would call them round. They fit my curtains fine.

Q: Are these waterproofed enough to be inside a shower window that gets wet daily?

I use the device in the shower with the shower head pointed directly toward the tension rod. I wipe it after each use, and hang a bath towel from it. I have never removed the device from its housing.
