I figured out how to work this stuff without all the mess!
Brief history: pre baby I was doing hi and lo lights to slowly rid my hair of the cherry brown I put in which turned brassy. I needed to do something with it because I grew it out and didn't add color for more than 10 months. Fast forward to 5 months ago and I purchased the blonde and light brown henna. I hate the fact that it is very gritty when applying color but I like the results. So I decided to experiment. Btw, this stuff doesn't strain well in a metal strainer or coffee filter. It's like trying to strain mud.So here is what I figured out:A) boil 8-10 oz strong coffeeB) add 4 tsps henna of choice and whiskC) grab a hand towl and a bowl. Poor hot mixture in rag and twist until filtered into bowl. The should be dry mud in the rag when done.D) poor filtered henna back in pot and bring to a light boilE) put 2-3 tbsp of tapioca flour (you can get it at target or publix, not expensive) into pot and whisk until it turns into a thick gravyF) while in pot cooling a little, set up your bathroom with saran wrap, gloves, clips, brush, hair cap.G) brush hair and separate into sectionsI) put on gloves and apply henna making sure you get everything wet.. does not drip all over cuz is super thick 👍J) cover with saran wrap and capK) wait an hour, you can blow dry to heat for a few minutes (this works best)L) rinse, wash, conditionM) blow dry and voila! It's a little bit of a process but it works great with no grit and very soft! I am a happy camper!

Does not work
I was really hopeful that this Henna product would work to cover up my gray hair since I am now having to color my hair every two weeks and wanted to use something natural. I did not receive instructions with my package, but I watched a couple you tube videos and googled directions to learn how to apply this. My first time around I left it on for one hour and used the product throughout my hair. It felt heavy and kinda had a sea weed odor, which would be ok if it worked. After washing it out my hair was still gray. A couple days later I decided to try again and this time I did just the crown of my hair where most of the gray is and left it on for two hours. After washing it out there was still no change. Yes, both times I used coffee and apple cider vinegar just as the google instructions and you tube videos said. Will not purchase again.

Works well
I had strawberry blond hair as a young women, as I aged it darkened to light brown with a reddish cast. Now that I'm 64, it's probably about 30% gray and the contrast between the gray and brown isn't enough to be very attractive in my opinion. I decided to try the Light Brown Henna hair color. I followed the directions and it was a little messy but not difficult to do. The only reason I'm giving this product 4 stars rather than 5 is the directions, while pretty detailed in most areas, don't tell how much of the powder to use. I made the 16 oz of hot tea they recommend and ended up using about 1/2 of the powder to get the correct consistency. This was about twice as much as I needed to color my hair which is about to my shoulder blades. There isn't anything in the directions about keeping left over mixed product so I don't know if I can use it later or if I should toss it. Besides that, I'm very happy with this product. I put the powder, tea and olive oil mixture in a dish detergent bottle to apply it to my hair. Be warned, the mixed product looks dark green colored, but my hair didn't turn green! The majority of my gray is much better blended with my brown hair; the total color is light brown with a reddish cast. It looks very natural. I would recommend this product, just start with about 1/4 of the container and see if you need to make more rather than making a lot of it and wondering what to do with the leftover.

Arrived opened
The bottle opened in this shipping process. Lost some product.I tried it yesterday and I can say it is moisturizing for the scalp, but my does it clump a lot! I washed my hair before using and getting the little bits out took a few washes, two to three to be exact. I think this is because of how much you need to mix it to avoid the clumping. Will try one more time this week to give it a fair shake.

Take your time applying, its well worth it...
I am not a big reviewer BUT this made my hair gorgeous. I am almost 60 never colored my hair and not too much gray but its beginning and fast. My Hair is long, thinnish and medium brown, used to be a towhead blonde when very young, slowly browned and finally graying. Its a little messy to do but well worth it. I used a rich hair oil and green hot tea. Heated up 2 oz. hair oil added to 3 tablespoons of henna light brown powder (green color), was nice goopy and green. Added the hot tea slowly to make a 8 ounce glass jar of fluffy paste; well emulsified, mixed well. Turned my dry head of hair upside down in huge sink and slowly massaged in tablespoons all thru scalp to ends. I packed it on, didn't use plastic gloves, slight hand staining but washed off easy with soap. Rolled up my hair in a bun and covered with plastic wrap for hour plus. Wanted to go overnight but was too tired. Rinsed well but not enough to get all oil out. I purposely left some in and went to bed with towels on my pillows. Washout second time with minimal shampoo again, no sulfates ever. The grey was golden and hair was ultra soft. Look forward to doing it again and leave in longer. Smelt nice like the rich hair oil I used. Hair is nice and shiny-love it, I feel brand new :)
