For DIY Brown Butter
I bought this product after making a few batches of brown butter for fish at home without any milk powder. While you can simply brown butter on the stove by cooking it until it toasts, using this powder in the butter adds more solids - which add flavor. So if an entire stick of butter only has a few milligrams of milk solids to toast, while the rest is oil or ghee, you can add more solids that will toast and add more concentrated flavor. It works great! We also add this to homemade cookie batter to keep them soft and chewy. I never added water to this to make milk so I do not know how well it dissolves, but I am going to buy another bigger bag next time because we use it so much.

excellent quality, must have for working pantry, and long term pantry/preps
I highly recommend Judees products. Might pay a little more than some companies, but I have always had top notch experience with this line of products from Ohio, USA. Also, you can be assured that the products are coming from DEDICATED nut free, gluten free facilities. That's a big deal for some folks, and I am glad that a quality company caters to these needs. I have no allergies or sensitives, thankfully. I just want a product I can rely on. So Judee's is my go-to for pantry items like this. I even have my mom on board. The milk is really really good- tastes like milk, and not the usual powdered milk I use. I dont even drink cow milk, let alone whole milk, but I find great value in keeping powdered milk on hand for various cooking, baking, or SHTF needs. I try to stock whole milk powder because I can always water it down. Also whole milk works better in baking, cooking. Since I dont buy cow milk (but rarely) being able to have some cow milk on demand is fantastic. I can just make up what I need, at any consistency, and there is no waste. When it comes to stuff like this, I buy the largest amount I can afford. Since much of it is shelf stable, I can either tuck it away, OR I can break it down into smaller storable sizes using simple mason jars, or mylar bags. I plan to share this bag with my mom (unless she has already put in an order, ha).

Good choice
Good quality and flavor in an economical size. This powder works well in breads and ice creams. The package is resealable and comes with an oxygen absorber to maintain freshness, though I usually repack it into mason jars for more convenient scooping. I wish there was an organic version, but am happy with the quality and put it on subscription.

Weird after taste, not like good whole milk -- trying to get used to it
Purchased this item (2.5lb) to test for long term storage of dry goods. Had high hopes and perhaps it's better when mixed into recipes, where you'd add 1tbsp or so. As a substitute for whole milk, I find it lacking. I am a lifelong whole milk drinker, with no "milk allergies". For those with milk issues, try A2 milk, which is more palatable to those with weak stomachs. Cannot stand skim milk (horrid taste), and most store bought whole milk is bland and tasteless, but passable.Raw milk from grass fed and finished cows is best and will always be so. There is nothing that compares to it...the settled, thick cream on top, the non-pasteurized, non-homogenized, vanilla-eggshell-white natural goodness is a true blessing that we've been fooled into thinking is not healthy...when it's the ONLY healthy option. If you haven't yet experienced this amazing treat, search your favorite web browser for "raw milk". When not available, organic, store-bought milk is my next best option...even though it is ultra pasteurized (sigh).Continuing with to this product review: the powder is quite lovely to look at, and amazingly refined. No clumps, no large grains...it seems comparable to well refined flour. This product dissolves well in warm water (or very warm), but does require some mixing. Recommend an immersion hand-held mixer (or blender) for best results. Spoon mixing might work in small batches, but for 2-4 quarts at a time, it pays to use an electric blend. It does get frothy while warm, but will settle down once cooled and refrigerated. The color of the milk when finished is a bright white, a bit brighter than your typical store bought milk. The color and texture of this milk is very nice, with nothing strange to report. It pours well, and there is no unusual mouth feel or graininess. The only thing I find unusual and difficult to get used to is the TASTE. It doesn't really taste good. Not sure why others say it tastes great, but my guess is they have no clue what good milk tastes like. Some have reported a flour-like taste, and I'd say they are not far off. It is weird and not to my liking...at first I found it somewhat disgusting, but have tried to acclimate myself to the taste. If there is flour in this mix, I will be very upset.Although the taste is off-putting, it can be acceptable in small amounts (8 oz or less), if consumed quickly. The after-taste will be short lived. For purposes of long term storage and/or emergency use as a whole milk replacement for drinking on a regular basis, it is passable and usable, but not recommended. I will continue my search for a worthy replacement for traditional whole milk.

Creamy Whole Milk
So far so good! I’ve started buying powdered milk to save money instead of buying cartons and gallons that spoil quickly. This is a creamy thick formula, due to this being whole milk. It’s literally dried milk and worth the price. Love the taste in hot cocoa. Would definitely buy again.

Mixes easily
Tried two other whole milk powders. One tasted very rancid from age, the second slightly. Judees mixed easier, I only used a whisk rather than a blender. The expiration date was 2 years out from the others. The milk cleaned off the glass decanter more easily than the other two. Bought again.
