I removed and re-bedded a hatch on my sailboat. The hatch incorporates a rubber gasket which I thought might be too old to salvage - but I gave Shin-Etsu a try. Applied product wearing rubber gloves and could feel the rubber seal getting softer (more supple) by the minute. I now have to pull on the hatch handles to close it - there's definitely a tighter seal.I belong to certain brand of hardtop convertible owners group on Facebook. We all use Shin-Etsu to keep the hardtop and window seals from drying out. It's the goto product for this application.

A search indicated this really helps bring older rubber seals on doors of vehicles back to life. Seems to work, it goes a long way, just squeeze a little onto a cloth, rub into the rubber, making sure to try and ease it into folds and undersides etc. I've used it on the back tailgate door of a VW Transporter, easy to apply and it certainly makes the seal feel softer and look brand new.
