Brilliant buy
Needed a dvd player to play multi region dvds. As like many I now stream programs I didn't want to be paying a fortune. This little player is not only reasonably priced, it's well made and easy to use. Just plug in and play. What's more Majority planted a tree for this purchase.Looking at some of the other reviews I felt there was a need for clear explanations.1. No, the buttons on the remote control are not small, there are just a lot of them. The Majority controller is the middle one of my three remotes and definitely not too small. I would suggest all you need to do is to familiarise yourself with your new remote's layout -ergo, no problems.2. As advertised - the remote does not come with free batteries, but at the very reasonable price of the appliance you can not expect that (next people will be asking for Majority to pay their electricity bill!). It is no hardship to provide your own.3. Once again as advertised - the package arrives with the player, the remote and RCA cables, therefore it should not surprise anyone when there is no HMDI cable included. You can buy an HMDI cable for as little as £6:38.4. Yet again - as advertised this is a slim mini dvd player. If you wanted a bigger one, don't go buying a slim mini.Set up.I did receive a leaflet concerning the basic setting up, but actually this is so simple. It's literally plug in and play. I connected the dvd player to the TV using an HMDI cable (from my previous dvd player), plugged the electric plug into the electric socket and turned on.I have not accessed the online manual as everything on the remote control is self explanatory.Mine was set up to show English subtitles, used the obvious button on the remote control 'set up', went to subtitles and selected off.Picture was very clear, but wanted the 16:9 ratio, so once again going to 'set up' selected TV and chose 16:9 ratio. All set up, running and ready to play within five minutes of taking it out if it's box.Performance.Plays all dvds (I have not tried CDs yet and will probably not use the USB port).A very faint, gentle purr is heard when the disc is initially read, certainly a lot quieter than my older, larger and more expensive machine. Once initial reading has taken place, there is no additional noise from the player. Picture and sound are both clear and crisp. No problems loading the disc into the slot, this slot is no more fussy at accepting a disc than any other appliance I've had. You just have to be respectful of both the disc and player and look what you're doing. The remote control works quickly and effortlessly, no lag from pressing buttons, no problems pressing buttons and clear indication of which button is for what purpose, as I said before, just use your common sense and familiarise yourself with your new gadget. As an added bonus it came well packaged in its own box, which in turn was inside an Amazon brown bag to hide the contents and it arrived within 30 hours of ordering. I can definitely recommend this dvd player.

Cost-effective, easy-to-use solution for playing your DVDs!
As we’ve recently moved house and got our 4 year old settled in his new bedroom with his own simple TV set-up, we wanted a cost-effective and easy to use DVD player so that he’s able to view his favourite discs. Having set myself a low budget I was surprised to see how many players there were on the market and, having recently purchased a Bluetooth CD Player from Majority which I’ve been very impressed with, I opted to stick with the brand. It’s worth noting also that a family member had recently been raving about a Majority DAB radio they had recently acquired for their kitchen, so I was confident in buying another product from the brand. The Majority Scholars DVD Player really is a no-frills, straight out of the box, plug and play, simple to use player. A simple HDMI connection is provided meaning that it was connected to the TV and working within minutes. My son was sat happy watching his favourite Tractor Ted DVD in no time at all. I think we’ll also find it useful as he has a number of audiobooks and music CDs that he’ll also be able to listen to in his own room, so as not to disturb us adults downstairs!Picture quality as you’d expect is great, even with older DVDs the player seems to upscale them reasonably well so that they still look sharp and crisp on a modern TV. I popped a handful of my son’s photos he’d taken onto a USB stick (which is really simple to access from the on-screen menu). He was so pleased to see them come to life on his own TV and he was even able to scroll through the images with ease using the remote control. He’ll love this feature going forward, especially as he can access the USB port himself as it’s on the front of the unit.We only have DVDs from Region 2 (UK) however I note that the player will read and play discs from multiple regions, which will no doubt be useful to many. RCA connections provide an extra level of connectivity which again will be useful if required and they even include the cables for this. The player itself is very small, probably around the width of 2 DVD boxes - perfect for areas with limited space and easy to move to another room if required - it’s really light and compact.A couple of minor niggles; the first being that no batteries were provided for the remote control, but these were soon located in one of our many as yet unpacked boxes. I also feel that the remote control is quite generic, similar to ones I’ve had before with other lower-priced audio equipment - and I’m still confused as to why the most-used buttons on these controllers also tend to be the smallest?!! The Play/Pause and Stop buttons are really small, so it took a while for my son to find them, but again it’s really only a minor point as the remote itself works fine. I also like having an Eject button on the remote control which some players I’ve had in the past didn’t have.A 3 year warranty is included once registered with Majority which is amazing for a product selling at this price point! Overall I’m really happy and I’m sure it will have many years of use from all the family - and it’s a great and cheap way to keep those cherished DVDs for just a few years longer!

Handy and decent quality for cost
Handy little size, easy set up to my smart tv, batteries not included with the remote, but not a big deal, runs my DVD well, picture quality is decent, sound decent, good value really

Neat and compact little player which is excellent value.
Difficult to find anything to fault.Neat little DVD player which I bought to use as a CD player to resurrect a redundant CD collection. I use with an equally cheap Lepy LP-2020A amplifier and some old Toshiba bookshelf speakers bought off a well known auction site for a tenner. Works really well, no doubt some hi-fi snobs would find fault with the sound quality but to my ears it is just about perfect.Bought at a ridiculously cheap £26 with a coupon code.Registered for the 3 year warranty on line.No idea how well it works as a DVD player but as a CD player it's perfect.I see some comments about batteries not being supplied.......but honestly! - it comes with absolutely everything else you need to connect and use.
