An inexpensive knife with impressive features.
I review a lot of knives and so am pretty particular about how they feel in my hand, the quality of the steel, the sheath (if so equipped), the initial sharpness and edge angle, and any other features. The good news on this knife is that the steel is quite good, and it arrived sharp. It is a full tang knife and I like the bottle opener and lanyard hole built into the tang. It comes with a leather sheath which is well made and holds the knife securely. The belt loop is generous. The grind angle is about 20 degrees per side – not my favorite, but I understand why that is so common. The minor bit bad news is that the blade is not quite as hard as I know14C28N can get. While you can certainly get a good edge on it, and I did, that edge will wear a little more quickly than I want my knives to wear. But that too, could be a design decision as it gets more expensive to max out the hardness of knife steel and if you get it too hard, it is brittle and prone to chipping under hard use. And, the harder the steel, the more difficult it is to sharpen. The G10 handle is easy to grip and is non slip. It is not molded to your hand, however all of the edges are eased so that it feels good. The fitment between the scales and blade is excellent. I used it to cut up some winter squash and it worked great – it did not slip and it performed the task with ease. I did change the edge angle to about 16 degrees per side which is my favorite profile for everyday use. The reason I know the steel is not as hard as could be is that it didn’t take as long as some harder knives to change the profile from 20 degrees down to 16 degrees. Like I said, maybe that is the hardness the designers were looking for. Once sharpened I was able to shave paper – so I don’t know about splitting hairs, but splitting paper which is .003” was no problem. The finish is black titanium and is going to be rust resistant. The serrations for your thumb make the large knife very controllable and easy to use.. If you have someone on your gift list who is starting out and needs a good outdoor oriented knife, this would be a good choice, as it will give them a chance to experiment with something that is inexpensive but still very high quality. For that same reason, it would be a good knife to keep in your vehicle for when your buddy forgets theirs, or your primary knife gets lost or too dull to work. In other words, this is a nice looking, perfectly capable knife good for lending, gifting, or for use as an extra. For the price, it is an excellent value and will be a knife I will keep for myself. Keep this knife clean, dry, and protected and it will last a lifetime.

Nice blade for the price
This is a review for Mossy Oak 9.5" Hunting Knife with Sheath, 14C28N Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife, G10 Handle Outdoor Knife for Survival, Camping, Hiking(Green), Good Merry Christmas GiftI have been on somewhat of a knife binge for the past year or so, and whenever I see a knife that interests me, I grab it. I would not call myself an expert, but I have a good amount of experience with them. The knife seems to be good quality materials. The tang extends all the way through the handle. The knife feels pretty good to hold in your hand, as it's well balanced. The blade also comes pretty sharp from the factory. I think it looks pretty good too, although, I might just be biased towards the green/black combo. The hole in the back works well for a lanyard, and while sheathed on your belt, this knife doesn't really get in the way. When I ordered this knife, I didn't realize there is a bottle opener in the handle. This is pretty convenient, but I don't know if it's a good idea to be drinking beers while wielding the knife, as you would either need to remove the entire knife plus the sheathe off of your belt to safely open a bottle, or try with the blade exposed and possibly pointed at your body. The sheathe is adequate. The belt loop is big enough, and the materials seem like they will hold up. The stitching that holds the materials together is well done, with no loose thread.Overall, for the current sale price of 23.99, or even the usual 29.99, this knife is a good choice. I have reviewed knives on Amazon that are double in price or more, that are worse quality than this.

Tough and sharp. My new camping knife!
This is one tough and sharp knife for backpacking and camping. I like the size of the knife and compared to my old standard issued air crew knife from the service days, this is an upgrade for me. The handy bottle opener at the end comes in pretty handy opening a bottle or few as well. The handle is ergonomically designed and overall is a great value for the price!

High quality knife
This has become my do-everything knife. I've used it on two camping trips for whittling branches and chopping vegetables, and it also comes in handy as a household knife for slicing open packages and anything else that needs a sharp point. Very well made and comes with a sheath that you can hook to your belt.

Very nice sub $25 fixed blade
This is a very nice sub $25 fixed blade. It is quite solid in the hand with great fit and finish. There is nothing flashy or expensive about it, so thrash away until your heart is content. The budget 14C28N steel is soft enough to take the abuse without chipping, but very easily resharpen back to a great edge. The corrosion resistant coating is always nice to have on a knife like this that may get left in my toolbox or truck. The sheath is only slightly better than what you might find on a flee-market special, but it will serve its purpose for years to come and not dry rot on you like you may have seen in lesser quality sheaths. I would normally call this a "beater knife" but the curvy, progressive style just adds an additional layer of coolness that elevates this full tang G-10 scaled blade to something a little more than basic.I have a son who's recently gotten into knives, and he thought the design was so very cool that he offered to trade me his Cold Steal SRK for it. Obviously, I had to let him in on the price-point so he might rethink that offer, but he had no idea beforehand judging only by appearance. He's old enough to trust with knives but still young enough to have much to learn. This knife was a great teaching tool as I was able to show him a decent quality knife can be made and sold for under $25.
