It runs on regular house current. 110 volt. It does say it needs a 20A circuit which I'm on, but until I move it into the basement when snow flies, I have a 15A extension cord on it with no apparent ill effects.

Perhaps this has been answered, but what is the greatest diameter it will split? And if they're more than that diameter, then what?

I just bought the Boss Splitter a few weeks ago. I live in the mountains in CA and the drought and bark beetles are killing millions of trees here right now. I had to have a 250 foot pine tree cut down because the bark beetles got it. The logs that I have been splitting are very green and full of water. The largest log that the splitter has gone through so far is one that was 16 inches long and 22 inches round and the boss went right though it without any problem. I have split about 30 logs so far all of them were 16 inches long and the circumference varied from 17 round all the way up to 22 inches round. The boss has handled all of these logs without any problem. I have also used the splitter to split kindling all the way down to 1/2 inch wide pieces. I use cedar as my kindling because it splits really good!

Will the splitter work vertically without leaking fluid. also would the switch be accessible if vertical or possibly modified

It is a sealed unit hydraulic jack, so it does not leak. The handle for operating the splitter is probably in a bad place for standing on end though as you can see from the photo. The on/off switch is easily accesiblemounted next to the electric motor.

Do I need a special electrical cord for this splitter?

Hi! The amperage on this motor is 13.4 amps; which translates to an extension cord under 25 feet of 14 gauge; between 25 and 50 feet a 12 gauge extension cord is needed. Ed
