Q: Are the chess board squares inlaid hardwood or a lesser quality painted, or veener?

I believe the squares are a veneer

Q: Have they fixed the problem with missing holes? And screws not lining up and every item comes with instructions?

I just received mine today, 6/7/2019, and there are missing screw holes. I was hoping to put this together for my husband as a Father’s Day gift but there are no holes in the top part of the pedestal column, or holes in the bottom of the chess board. Very frustrating!!!

Q: Should it come with pre drilled holes? The reviews are conflicting.
