Works well. Can get about 30 cm long sparks on a good strike. Cord is sturdy but the band may start to come apart with long-term use.

These are nice bracelets I picked up for the kids as a gimmick while hiking.The build is good quality and thr fire steel works.I may be stating the obvious but the compass is totally unreliable.

My son and daughter-in-law go wild camping in Scotland on occasion, and sometimes camp next to lakes / bodies of water because of the beautiful scenery. I believe in being prepared for all eventualities, and sometimes they end up camping near to others. This year I bought them several items which could help them, or others, if some incident did occur, these items had to be small and easy to carry with other camping equipment. I had never heard of these wristbands, however, when they opened this gift they instantly knew what they were! 2.5m paracord on each wristband, a compass and something to start a fire. Hopefully they don't get to use them, some say the compass is useless, but bought a small survival kit also, shouldn't add too much weight to camping kit, but could be useful in some way.

Bought as gifts for a friend going travelling. The compass doesn’t work at all on either product. Great idea just needs to be a bit more sturdy and work.

One flint fire was used. The compase needles are flimsy and inaccurate. I bought for less, better, unbranded, same design bracelets.
