I recently obtained a couple of thousand vintage needlework patterns from an estate sale, and had been trying to organize them.They had previously been stored in some Iron Mountain file folder-type boxes.The advantage of those was that the boxes had handles, and the file folders fit into them.The disadvantage is - as anyone who has used them knows all too well - the more you put into the file folders, the more the sides tend to collapse!So after searching Amazon for some storage ideas, I ordered one of these boxes.It's perfect! And here's why:. It holds letter-size file folders very nicely (and apparently will also hold legal-size folders, though I don't have any right now so can't verify that).. It's very sturdy so no danger of the sides collapsing as with a cardboard box.. The lid is VERY easy to open and close (not like the big plastic storage bins where you have to struggle with them).. It's easy to carry around - no worries that it's going to fall apart when I pick it up like the cardboard boxes.. The lid is clear so I can kinda sorta see through it (it's not THAT clear!) and verify what's inside.. The one box holds the equivalent of one and a half times the amount the Iron Mountain boxes were holding.So overall I am very pleased with this, as a better storage solution than the cardboard file folder boxes I had been using before.In fact, I like it so much I just ordered a second one! We have been using this box to haul around prints to art shows for the past year and a half, and overall it's stood up pretty well. But I wouldn't order it again, it's not heavy duty enough for our purposes. If you just need it to sit in an office and hold files, this would probably work great.The lid is the worst part, it immediately came off the hinges on the first use, and does not stay on well at all. The lid also breaks easily, so you can't really stack anything heavy on it.The box itself is pretty sturdy, but my biggest complaint is that it has warped to be slightly too wide for the hanging file folders to sit comfortably on the little ledges. So they fall down into the box, which is frustrating.

I have kept a majority of my personal paperwork (car insurance policy, bank statements, etc.) in a folder organized by tabs. However, I have come to run out of room and the binder has not been able to close. Therefore, I decided it was time to get something bigger and easier to store.This storage box is the perfect size. It fits under my bed where I want it but also has enough room for my filing needs. Great product, highly recommend.

First --let me say that I'm not returning this item because I have to have someplace immediately to store files.That said: The first thing that happened, unpacking the unit, was the handles fell off --- three items, three handles.They are secured (not the correct term) by a pressure snap fitting. I reinstalled them. They do not fit correctly with the top of the unit, therefore, the snap shut feature doesn't work - at all. To keep it out of my way, I took off the handle (very simple procedure) and attached it upside down. At least that way it doesn't get in my way.This item brings to mind one and only one word in describing it --- "garbage" --- this is the sort of poorly made trash that passes for manufacturing.If you have the time to shop around, most definitely shop for another item. This is nothing but a box with a non-functioning handle.

It holds "legal" size hanging folders (which it DOES NOT come with) on the built in plastic rails perfectly. I had plenty hanging folders from a smaller filing bin which made buying this very affordable. Not small at all but large enough for what I needed to upgrade to. I also love the transparent lid so I can see whats inside. It's not a thick sturdy plastic lid so, I don't put anything on top that could possibly crack it which could be why I haven't had any problems with the hinges or the snap and lock lid breaking on me yet :) I'm very happy with this purchase!! Does it what it is intended for, but not well. The folders do not glide along the rails with ease, and one side of the folder tends to fall of the rail while dragging it along. The positives are it's easy to carry all of your files with it, and it's small compact design makes it easy to store. For what it is the price is steep.

Compact, sturdy, straightforward. This plastic filing tote did the trick in organizing my documents while at the same time keeping them mobile. Mobile is the key word here, as a heavy, bulky, metal filing cabinet is hard to move and takes up a large amount of space in a small office.This product is lightweight (while sturdy) and very easy to move and stack as necessary. Use one or multiple, they stack very nicely.Would recommend for anyone who is looking to organize their documents while at the same time needing to remain mobile and flexible with their office space or home storage.
