TrimaxTRZ8AL 8" Premium Aluminum Adjustable Hitch with Dual Hitch Ball and T5 Receiver Lock, Polished Aluminum

I was a little nervous about this when I bought it...not any more after 3 months of use. It does require a 250 ft/lb torque wrench to install, any truck or heavy equipment repair place will have one. I paid a guy $10 to torque it right on my truck after I already had it ratchet tight. As some reviews indicate it does seem sloppy without weight on it, but it doesn't rattle and is solid when towing my camper and bass boat. It does come with a locking receiver pin too, which wasn't clear to me when i bought it. One key for both locks is awesome. I did buy Masterlock lock lube too...I do think these could seize over time if you install and leave them dry, but every receiver lock I've had does. One drawback I see is the bottom ball rides below the bottom of the hitch in the lowest 2 positions, limiting your clearance a bit. I will occasionally bump it on the ground if I cross steep curb when it's in the lowest position.

Awesome product, really like that the bottom piece locks on, this way it doesn’t get stolen. Easy to change the height on it and it looks great. I saw complaints about it rattling, and it does like all my others, I solved this by Puting a plastic shim in the top. It won’t last during a heavy tow but it keeps it from rattling when not in use.

Bought the 8" because the 6" was more expensive...go figure. Very solid, literally and figuratively, and I wanted the higher rating 10K trailer, 1500# tongue. Weighs only 16# and that includes the locking hitch pin (note this is matched to the lock that adjusts ball height).This is an accessory for me as I don't tow on a regular basis. Just wanted something that would allow me to borrow a friends trailer, get the odd equipment from the tool rental shop, etc. Lightwieght was a bonus for such a strong unit.

This ball hitch is very nice and well made. one thing can be better though is the hole at the top of the ball where you take the bolt out should have a rubber or plastic plug to fill the hole because water will get in and rust the bolt and fuse it to the ball making it very hard to get out after time goes by. just an idea. But this thing is very well made. I love it

This hitch looks great and works even better. Lots of adjustments and is pretty simple to flip to other ball. Sometimes it takes a little bit of wiggling to get the pin back in the hole once you have it flipped, but not usually a problem. I would suggest it to any of my friends. The only issue I had with it was the lock that came with it was too short to fit all the way through the receiver by a fraction of an inch, thus making it useless. Could it have been modified, maybe, but should you need to modify a brand new product? No. I had to buy a different one, otherwise this would be a 5 star rating.

This is the worst product on the market, has come apart 2 times now ( after being put together exactly per instructions, lock washer, 250lbs torque using 2 1/2 breaker bars, and set screw with reverse threads locked into place. The first time the set broke into 2 pieces, balls came apart and lost my BOAT trailer coming down a mountain with my 4 children in the truck with me. No one was hurt thankfully. 3000.00 dollars damage done to boat and trailer. Put back together per factory specs and again came apart doing 55 on the freeway with my boat again. another 600.00 in damage.All the factory can say is "sorry, but we were not there to monitor the situation" per Jim, factory warranty manager.SO DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR ANY HITCH PRODUCT FROM TRIMAX.

This hitch is definitely beefy and a great alternative to the Andersen Manufacturing hitch I see more commonly. My only gripe is that the locking pin it comes with is 2.75", which won't fit newer trucks. This is more than an inconvenience since the pin is keyed the same as the ball carrier lock, and unlike the Andersen hitch the ball carrier lock is integrated. I'm asking Trimax if I can swap the pin for a 3.5" one with the same key code and will update this review if so.**Update**I changed my review from 4 to 5 stars after contacting Trimax about the pin. They offer a replacement pin without lock (so I can keep the same key) for a crazy low price. They were extremely helpful. I'd recommend this hitch without reservation now, just be prepared to swap that pin.

I saw some of the other reviews on this Trimax hitch after I had already purchased it. Some of them being 1 star had me concerned. I was very happy with it when I opened the box. This is one beefy beautiful and functional hitch. I used it this weekend to haul my New Cobalt 200. It even includes the locking pin with a matching key for the adjustable ball mount. This is a really nice product.

Using this on my truck for towing trailer or boat. I like that it will not rust...except the chrome. I put a sealer on and it looks awesome! Easy to adjust. Definitely will have to keep it lubricated as I can see the locks seizing if not maintained. Would suggest removing it when not in use, it will make its good looks last and prevent water & debris from slowly penetrating the locks.

Everything is perfect only thing that could make it better is if it came with stainless steel balls

looks good seems a little bit wobbly but works good with weight on it so far . remove and clean after use and grease balls to prevent corrosion

Great idea that does not stand the test of time. I'm not sure I used it more than a dozen times and it is now stuck in one position. Save yourself the frustration and just buy a variety of steel hitches.

Works great, I have two complaints; one, when the hitch is in the lower positions the lower ball bottoms out on even the slightest grades when backing a trailer up, and two, at least on mine the cover doesn't seal very well on the locking mechanism and gets corroded. As long as you remember to spray some lithium grease on the keyway once in awhile it's a non issue. But if you don't you may have problems if you live somewhere where they use salt in the winter.
