Nice sturdy bike lock for reasonable price
This cable lock is good, especially at almost half the price of other brand names such as Kryptonite that offer no better product. Like all cable locks, even heavier cables such as this can't prevent determined thieves with time to work out of sight with strong cable cutters. However, this is a relatively heavy-duty lock for a bike cable lock and is easy to use and carry on bike and to set with personal combination #, and it serves as a good theft deterrent for most daytime uses when parking in high volume public places.

Worthy of consideration
I've have this for about three years now and has held up fairly well. Fortunately, I haven't had anyone test out its actual protection capabilities (no one has tried cutting it)...and I hope things stay that way. This cable lock is quite heavy and storing it on a bike can be a bit complicated (there is a supplied clip to hold it on the seat post, but it is next to useless). The cable remains self-coiling after years of hard use and the lock is fairly well-designed (minimizing stress on the cable). While fairly flexible, the cable is only 6 feet long, making it tricky to secure a bike to a car rack.

BUY A U-LOCK. Don't make the same mistake I did.
The lock seems fine but the mounting bracket is cheap and broke within 6 months of using the lock.UPDATE 5-11-2016: My bike was stolen using this lock. From a populated area in the evening. Thief(s) cut the lock and left it. :(

Compact unit that works well.
I had one of these for about 8 years and gave it to my son to use on his bike. I wanted to replace it with the identical model because I liked it so much. I didn't try using the mounting bracket because on my mountain bike I figure it will eventually give way and I'll lose the cable. This may not be a fair assessment, but it didn't look sturdy enough. No problem, though, because it is the cable itself I'm very happy with. I also have a two seater bike that I've used this cable to secure. It's got a long frame, but this cable is long enough to secure it. It's easy to set/change the combination when needed.

Otherwise good, heavy cable
Lock worked for for opening then locked up and had to be cut. Otherwise good, heavy cable, did not expect this problem. Seemed to be excellent quality.

Good Cable Lock, Holder Doesn't Fit Standard Mountain Bike Post
The cable itself is very beefy, the locking mechanism is about as good as you're going to get on this type of lock. It only gets three stars because the holder is not adequately adjustable and will not fit on my standard mountain bike seat post. This is a big deal for me as this is the way I like to carry cable locks and part of the reason I bought this particular lock. They need to add the specs of the holder to the product description. I wouldn't have purchased if I'd known it wouldn't fit my bike.

Well Worth The Money
This is one very nice bicycle lock.Pros: The large dial is easy to read and even easier to reset to your choice of four-digit code. Lets face it, any bike lock can be compromised, but this one will give most "casual" would-be thieves a real run for their money. The diameter of the cable alone is impressive enough to send a "don't even bother" message to most crooks. The six foot uncoiled length of vinyl covered cable is long enough to easily secure a bike to most bike racks.Con: The included clamp is too small to fit my bikes top or seat tube. However, because the lock is self-coiling, it easily fits in my MTX trunk bag, so I'm still giving this product a full five stars.

BETTER THEFT DETERANT CABLE
I bought this for the 5/8" thick cable, this is for a secondary bike. The last lock I had like this in the 11-12 dollar range with the next size thinner cable -my bike was stolen. They had to WORK HARD twisting the bolt cutter back and forth because all the smaller wires were all splayed outwards. (because of that I bought an expensive On Guard lock for my bike that I now love - self set combo -see my reviews). I live in where the bike theft rate is very high. Easy to set, I haven't tested the thieves yet, but I think it should deter them enough, plus its for a refurbished 3 wheeler for all the people in my apt complex to use. I don't think old 3 wheelers are on the thief priority list. The thicker cable is just what I wanted.
