Q: Does the system have a setting to "chime" every time a door or window is opened?

Yes, it sounds chime when door / window sensor is opened. You can also mute it if you want.

Q: I don't have full time wifi at this location can alarm still transmit over a cellular line?

The abode system uses the customers internet router for its primary communications link to access the abode server and to communicate to the abode Mobile and web apps. The abode gateway must always be connected to your router using an Ethernet cable. The gateways built in cellular back up radio service (if enable) will switch on if your homes internet service is temporarily lost, and reconnect the gateway to the internet using its own cellular radio, restoring all of the functionality to your abode mobile and web app. The gateway cell uses ether 3G AT&T or T- Mobile, (Whichever one has the best signal). Once the homes internet service is restored, then the gateway switches off its cellular service.

Q: How secure is the streaming feed? Besides the “screen shots” when motion is detected, is there an option to record? An option to record during live?

Our system is fully encrypted and very secure. When an alarm is triggered, our 1080p streaming camera will record a 30-second clip for your review. You also have the ability to record 30-seconds clips on-demand with the touch of a button on the mobile or web app. These clips can be viewed on the web or mobile app OR viewed, downloaded and/or deleted on the web app. Hope that helps! Q: Is this a Gen 1 or Gen 2 abode device?

This is the first and only version of iota, but internal specifications match the Gen 2 abode gateway with Z-Wave Plus and 4G cellular radio.
