Way too sweet and generic smelling. Short lasting.
Don't expect what you'd get by buying the more expensive Zegna couture cologne collection (Flor di Iris) at an upscale department store. I can't exactly figure out what Zegna is doing from a marking standpoint ... they seem to be knocking off their own $230 couture colognes with $50 cheaper mass produced versions, like this, sold at stores like Marshalls. While the scent is vaguely similar to the upscale couture version (down to the packaging!) Zegna obviously uses much less concentrated oils ... And synthetics ... In this version. To me it is cloyingly sweet and reminds me of the old Lucky Oriental cologne ... Or almost like a Joop cologne or Diesel's old Only the Brave. Acqua Di Iris is the first cologne I've ever used which feels sort of sticky when applied.Despite many other review site posters saying it lasted several hours on them (5+) it's rather short lived on me. Not surprising for a cologne this inexpensive with a designer name. I would say it has a strong sweet/vanilla type of smell for 5 minutes, then gets faint and by 1 or 2 hours, I can't smell it unless I put it right up to my nose. There is a vanilla sweetness, almost a sugary cola type of scent ... Nutmeg is there and maybe even a bit of floral cinnamon. It smells very feminine to me and if I had to guess without knowing, I'd guess this was a female perfume vs. a men's cologne.Nothing at all is unique about this scent and to me it smells like a cheap, sweet cologne ... The type all the brands like Diesel and Lucky released in funky bottles in the 2000s. This smells like a scent you'd smell on a college dude out for a night of fun with his bros at the club, not a businessman. I think Zegna is really doing bad things to their brand by offering this watered down version of their more expensive couture scents with similar names/packaging.I was hoping for a mildly floral soapy and clean smell ... Kind of like Prada's first offering before they changed it and made it cheaper smelling/sweeter. Instead it smells like I spent the night next to a heavily perfumed stripper who spilled a fruity drink on me. Not quite what I'd expect from Zegna. I only paid $30 and I am returning this. That's how much I dislike it.
