How do you install this? It never came with directions.

UNPLUG you computer/device. best to wear rubber gloves to prevent grounding while handling new drive. remove the access cover on your computer ( or other device. I installed this as storage for security CCTV). Look for the wire with a plug on it coming from the motherboard ( big main circuit board) that fits the plug on your new hard drive. Plug them together. plug in to power, turn it on & wait a while. The CMOS installed on the board should take over & offer prompts. Then install your Operating system ( win 7, 8, 10, etc.) .

is it true that these have slower read/write times as regular hard drives?

I have had mine in my 8CH video surveillance system for 4 years... No issues there.

Does it come with the sata cable?

Mine did not come with the cable.

So does this work well on gaming systems like the PS4 and X1??

I never try it with gaming systems,but it should be fine,in my computer,windows are loaded in a flash,for gaming,maybe ssd hard drive will be more correct.
