Q: Im assuming these have an impedance rating, but its not listed or mentioned; whats the impedence rating, in ohms?

According to what I've found elsewhere, 8 ohms of impedance, 5 watts RMS, 10 watts peak.

Q: Will they work pressed up against a surface for temporary location or does it have to be stuck on with the adhesive?

Pressing them against the surface will prevent the transducer from vibrating. They work just like a speaker, minus the cone. They can be relocated. New 3m double sided works or hot glue's great too.

Q: Mine has stopped working. Do these run out of battery over a period of time? Or just faulty?

It might be faulty. There's no battery in these; they need to be hooked up to an amp of some kind. The adhesive might have weakened or the speaker driver could have a short or be defective.

Q: could these be concealed behind a bookcase or couch (with a gap)? or do they need to be unobstructed?

I think that the only problem would be that the sound will be obstructed but I don’t why you cannot do it.
