You should use contact cement. I used about 8oz, spread a layer on both the substrate and the laminate, let it dry until tacky and then carefully apply laminate to substrate. There are many youtube videos demonstrating this technique.

Can you sit hot pots on top of this product?

like most laminates you cannot sit boiling or right out of the oven pots onto it as it will blister

What is the thickness of this product?

1/8" is totally wrong. Vertical grade is usually around 1/32" thick, or .20-.35
