Can I plug this into the back of a light string

I'm sure you can. I use mine on my Christmas tree. Instead of plugging string after string into each other I simply plug the directly into this cord. then with the flick of the on/off switch I can turn my tree lights on/off. I run this cord from the tree top down the trunk and to the outlet.

The cord has 9 outlets. Just don't exceed these ratings for 5A/125-Volts.

How many strings of lights will this product handle

I have put 10 strings into it. (1,000) lights.
