This part saved me purchasing a new engine. It was easy to install and works great.

I thought I had broken the one on my 30+ year old mower and bought a replacement. I discovered a video while changing out other older parts that needed replacing that showed I had only taken it apart to to point of cleaning, oiling and putting it back together after I had bought a replacement. It works great after a little break in period to loosen it up. Part wasn’t much, but the special removal/installation tool cost about 1 and 1/2 the price of the part if you don’t have one. I’ve restored my 1987 or 1989 MTD to look and run new after buying a new Honda push mower that made 3 trips to the shop in the first 3 months of ownership before I parked it in the shed and broke out my old original Briggs and Stratton motor on my MTD and started restoring it to new.

Oddly enough, my old, one broken half. I found this one on Amazon for a decent price and it’s a genuine Briggs & Stratton part. I’m happy with my purchase highly recommend.

The assembly is a genuine B&S part, I needed it to use in an electric start modification to my lawn mower.
