Unfortunately uninteresting and unimpressed
Look if you are a huge fan of these two authors like I'am than this book is probably going to be a unsatisfying 3 star read .If you don't know Christina Lauren 's writing talent then you might like this read but I've read everything they have written and this read was as uninteresting and unimaginable as the title. The story was just juvenile, silly, so surface , no depth, more than half the supporting cast you will never really know and that includes Ethan the main character.I won't be completely unappreciative because there were a few lines here and there that made me smile but the storyline was overly forgettable. The whole book premise was just dumb and unimaginative, and I didn't even get a good read on the main character Ethan until the Epilogue, which was so unacceptable. Yes my review is a bit cheeky using "Un "in as many words as I can to match the title but at least I'm making a effort to be clever in my review , I would have appreciated so much if the authors would have tried to make this read a bit clever. So unoriginal, I felt like I've read this story so many times.Same overdone story just told with vomit scenes ,paintball scenes and the over use of the word diarrhea. I swear one of these ladies is really into playing paintball because it was a repeat of a overly descriptive paintball game scene that they wrote about a few books back , no more paintball scenes please I beg of you both.Ladies this book is not up to your unbelievable talent , it was unoriginal and you guys are better than this lame read, where was the witty banter , the sexual chemistry and heat and the emotional depth between the two main characters.???Unhappy fan here, underwhelmed read here , please try harder next time because this book was unacceptable for me coming from the duo who wrote so many wonderful well told stories back in the Beautiful Bastard series day .

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
The Unhoneymooners by Christina LaurenCute. Appealing. Flirty. Sweet. Adorable. A lighthearted romance with all the feels. Their arguing makes this couple real. Ethan is lovable. The supportive extended family is like a hug.I love this author. Such a way with dialogue and encapsulating the story.Written in present tense. I hate present tense. It makes me feel as though I have to hop along the driveway with them. But moving on, it only distracted me a few times so I consider it superbly crafted that I was able to get lost in the movie rather than the sentence structure.Excerpt:“I don’t know how it happens, but one minute I’m struggling to swim faster and the next Ethan’s hand is around mine, helping me move toward a small cluster of gray-dotted o’ili. It’s so quiet down here; I’ve honestly never felt this sort of weightless, silent calm, and certainly never in his presence. Soon, Ethan and I are swimming completely in sync, our feet kicking lazily behind us. He points to things he sees; I do the same. There are no words, no verbal jabs. There is no desire to smack him or poke his eyes out—there is only the confusing truth that holding his hand down here isn’t just tolerable, it’s nice.”I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

Okay. I LOVE CHRISTINA LAUREN BOOKS!
Okay. I LOVE CHRISTINA LAUREN BOOKS! While I love some of their books more than others, I consistently know I will get a creative romance read no matter what. This book didn’t remind me of any other book I’ve read, which is saying something since I’ve read hundreds of romance books. When it come to characters, an element I love is close families. Olive’s family may annoy her at times, but at the end of the day, they are the family that supports and loves each other. Something I appreciated about Olive, was that she is still growing. She’s hilarious, and I totally related to her. I always joke that I have the worst luck. Also, I have an affection for bad liars, it really makes for some great comedy! Ethan, Ethan, Ethan. I really wish I had gotten more from him, but I think that is mostly due to it all being in Olive’s perspective. He does give some amazing apologies, so that is a definite plus in the pros column.Plotwise, this is a damn rollercoaster, and I loved it! You’d think with so many things happening, it would be overwhelming, but the authors did a beautiful job of weaving all of the elements together. I was engrossed in this story and stayed up until 4am to finish it. Yeah, not smart, but it just couldn’t be avoided. I just needed to know what happened! So, I read this book in one sitting, and would definitely recommend it to my fellow romance readers!Special thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for the free eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Returned for refund
Might have found it funny if I was a 12 year old adolescent. The humor was so juvenile I couldn't even finish the book.

Some will enjoy
Having seen a lot of hype surrounding this book and as a massive Christina Lauren fan I was a little disappointed in this. I’m still scratching my head as to why I didn’t enjoy this more but I think a lot of it is because I feel the two leads didn’t have an awful lot of chemistry. I love enemies to lovers and this should have been right up my street but I couldn’t see the hidden attraction between them and it all felt rather forced and if I’m honest the whole book felt very flat. I think I also missed the dual POV which would have given us a clue into Ethan’s thoughts. Not the worst book ever by a long shot but for me not the hilarious, can’t put it down book I was hoping it would be.

Light and fluffy
I absolutely adored the Beautiful series. Everything for me was perfect. Strong characters, sexual tension and steamy sex scenes. In comparison, this was not my preference. Fun characters but not laugh out loud, tiny bits of tension that don't lead to anything further and a complete lack of sex in the (couple of only!!) sex scenes. If you like your steaminess to be glossed over then this is the book for you. I liked the main characters but I didn't love them. For me, I think Penny Reid gives better value for money. Sorry, not for me.

Sweet, funny, and oh so romantic!
Christina Lauren made me fall in love with their writing with “Love and other words” and I haven’t missed a book of theirs ever since. The unhoneymooners is one of my favourites: great banter, chemistry, great plot, ugh. They really know how to write books that I love to read in one go.

Great Summer Read
It’s an Hate 2 Love/Fake relationship Rom-Com, I first read this in 2019 on Holiday and found it to be the perfect read for it. And again recently on audible. It’s a cute, funny, easy light read that you will be able to breeze through.I loved Olive, she is unapologetic of who she is and holds her own, and I think we have all felt like Olive at one point with her “unlucky ness”. I liked Olives and Ethans back and forth with each other. However the reason the was ‘enemies’ I didn’t feel was that great it was the typical misconception I would of preferred a-bit more depth into that and really see more character development on the change from enemies to lovers. The 2nd half of the book does have more ‘dramatic’ things happen. And it’s in Olives perspective.Overall I really did enjoy this book and did make me laugh 💜

Good, easy to read romance
Olive Torres thinks she has the worst luck of all. Her twin sister, Amy, on the other side, wins every contest she enters and has even won herself a free wedding and a honeymoon in Hawaii. Olive's eternal nemesis Ethan Thomas is present there as the brother of the groom. When everyone but them catches a bad bug at the wedding reception, they venture out on a two-week all-inclusive holiday to Maui. With one catch - they have to pretend they're newlyweds.I didn't hate the book, it was actually quite enjoyable (and the audio was really good!). There were all the tropes that usually make a great romance novel - haters to lovers, forced proximity, fake relationship/marriage. But there was also another aspect which I wasn't a fan of - the insight into Amy's marriage and how much the last part of the book was focused on that. I would have probably enjoyed it more if it were just about Olive and Ethan's relationship and how it developed on their pretend honeymoon and after. Obviously, there's also the aspect of Olive losing her job because she lied to her boss, whom she met in the resort in Hawaii. I liked that she did not immediately get her job back when her boss showed up in the restaurant she worked at.And, in the end, I kind of didn't want Olive and Ethan to get together. What really upset me was how he never believed her when she was concerned about his brother. In the end, Amy got divorced and exposed him, but Olive's relationship with Ethan meant that constant proximity to the person who hurt them the most - I didn't quite like that, but I guess the authors tried to explore the complexity of adultery in marriage and its effects on the people around them. Did it work? Not for me - what we got was a story of a cheater who got exposed. I also would have appreciated a heads up about this aspect of the plot - I assumed this would be very cheerful and breezy, but when Olive and Ethan got back, things got really heavy really fast, which was the reason I ended up giving the book a lower rating. Here are some other things I enjoyed: Olive and Amy's support network and their family always being there for them; their friendship; the endless banter between Olive and Ethan, but also how their relationship progressed.More things I didn't like: that we didn't get parts told from Ethan's POV (aside from epilogue). It would have been so much better to read his side of the story too and his thoughts on Olive, but in the book we were only privy to her thoughts and opinions. I'd prefer a dual POV story.
