UPDATE 07/30/2018: This really IS the last hat I will ever buy. Could not be more pleased with this hat. And now that I have packed it on a few trips, I can also say that the packability is great. I usually flatten it, rather than fold or roll, and place on top of my clothes as the last item before I zip my suitcase. Works like a charm. After many wearings on hot summer days and in hours of sun, it still looks as good as that day I first received it. Earlier Review: Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for ... lightweight (but with some shape and not floppy), "airy" so my head doesn't sweat like Niagara Falls, and, a very attractive style on my head. I have a freakishly large head and this fits very well, not tight at all. I can't speak yet to the "pack-able" claim as I have not put it in a suitcase. Pack-ability was another feature I was looking for, though, so hopefully I will be pleased. I hesitated at the price (I'm pretty frugal) but am glad I ordered this hat. Although it's still early days, I feel like this may be the last beach-summer-vacation hat I may ever buy ... so that's economical in the long run! As long as free returns are offered, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try if you are on the fence.

I have a few of these hats. I love the way they look on me and feel good wearing them. They are fun to wear and I get complements when I wear them. They have a casing inside the hat with a drawstring. The hat will fit perfectly using the drawstring. I just bought my second tan colored hat to replace one that I spilled house paint on. I'd like one in every color.

This is a lovely hat, light and well made. The top portion was too tall for me although the rim was fine. Just didn’t look right.

This is my second hat of this style! I loved the first one and wanted a neutral shade. Packs very well in a suitcase. Love the adjustable fit. Very cool in hot weather. Springs back to shape after packing and looks great. I received many compliments. It’s a must for travelers to sunny and warm climates!

This hat is beautiful and well made. I’m taking it on a cruise this Sunday to the Bahamas. I don’t know how well it will pack but I’m hoping it will just pop back into shape one unpacked. I think the other reviews did mention that it is Packable. I believe it’s made in the USA so that’s always a treat to find home made products. The workmanship of the hat is worth the money. It comes nicely packaged too.

I recently ordered two of these Wallaroo Victoria hats, one in natural color and one in sage color (both very nice colors and the sage is really lovely). I purchased them to replace an old Wallaroo Victoria hat that I own and really liked for years but that finally had outlived its time. While the design and appearance of this Victoria model hat is very nice, and the brim is fairly wide for good sun protection, I ended up returning the hats very quickly because of a strong chemical odor (kind of like a very strong dry cleaner odor) that was overwhelming when I removed the hat from the plastic bag in which it had been sealed for shipping - hence the overall rating of only 3 stars. If it were not for that chemical smell, I would have rated the hat with four or five stars. I don’t know if the smell would have resolved by allowing the hats to air out, but I made the choice to return them immediately because the smell was so strong that I could not tolerate it. I also noticed that when I tried on one of the hats, it did make my forehead feel a bit itchy. There was no strong odor when I originally purchased my first Wallaroo Victoria hat several years ago. At the same time that I purchased these new Victoria hats recently, I also purchased two other Wallaroo hats of a different style, and there was no chemical smell on either of the other two hats. The other two Wallaroo hats were shipped to me at different times within the same one week period as the Victoria hats, leading me to wonder if the chemical smell on the Victoria hats had any relationship to the location from which they were packaged and shipped. Since I already own a Victoria hat, I can tell you that the hat is pretty on and it wears fairly well. It is a reasonably soft material and it is indeed washable as is advertised. I would caution that the hat should be washed gently by hand as they instruct. As my prior Victoria hat got older, I did put it in the gentle cycle of the washing machine in a delicates washing bag, and although it did survive machine washing and could be reshaped when laid out to dry, the hat really did not fare as well as when I had been handwashing it. For the same reason, I recommend that if you’re going to pack it for travel, you pack it gently; I wouldn’t crush it into a fully stuffed suitcase as it may distort the pretty shape of the hat. The hat has a cord that runs the diameter of the lower part of the crown of the hat on the inside, and the cord can be tightened or loosened easily to comfortably adjust the fit of the hat for you.

Arrived just as I was climbing into the Uber on my way to Mexico. I had already packed so just had to put it on and go. LOVED IT! Light weight, cute, people asked where I got it, etc. (I’m 64, not 24…so it’s not like I look good no mayter what). If you look good in a ball cap, grab a couple of these. I wore it home…same response.

Baulked a little at the price of Wallaroo hats when first looking for an anti-uv hat last year, but all was forgiven when I received it, and one year later I love it even more. It has been rolled up in a rucksack, crumpled in a case, jammed into a shoulder bag for day trips and always comes out more or less in perfect shape-give or take the odd crinkle which soon drops out. It's been worn up a Welsh mountain, all around Rome, and its latest trip was on a narrowboat during last week's heatwave, where it protected my face and neck during several hours of skippering every day, in temperatures above 30 degrees C. The drawstring crown adjustment is great as it can be tightened to the perfect fit, or to help it stay on in breezy weather. Its light, airy and stylish enough for city breaks or the beach and it's excellent quality. Well worth the initial investment price, in fact I've just bought another in a different colour. I expect to get many years use out of these. As a fair-skinned redhead I wouldn't be without one during the summers now.
