Cheap, works
Low price, good quality. Not premium feeling plastics but don't really care for the price. Gets the job done just fine.

Works fine, but with a problem
I got this Startech cable to replace an Apple mini-displayport-to-DVI adapter that never worked reliably, even with duct tape reinforcement. I give the Startech cable 4 stars for reliability. I didn't give it 5 stars because the safety screws or whatever they are called that clamp the DVI male plug into the DVI female socket on the Dell monitor I am using will never, ever, do their job. They are a non-starter. With them as tight as I can get them with a screwdriver, the plug can be yanked completely out of the socket. So I am forced to rely on the friction within the plug-and-socket assembly to keep the monitor running. This is a system?

Nowhere near what it's cracked up to be...
This review is for the Startech Minidisplay port to DVI cable (not adapter.)I purchased this cable to run my HP w2207 monitor with my iMac. Initially, I had purchased a Rocketfish VGA to Minidisplay port adapter at Best Buy and used the stock VGA cable on the second monitor (which worked great) the only downside was the clarity of the monitor was extremely comprimised due to ancient VGA connection. I returned the Adapter, and hooked up this cable.BEWARE - I have had nothing but problems with this cable. For starters it's very shotily built and cheap feeling (especially for the price.) Everything worked "OK" for a day however when I first hooked up the cable, it took a minute for the monitor to kick on (this was not the case with the VGA and adapter.) Since then I have had nothing but drop outs, black outs etc to the point now where the second monitor is not even running. My iMac is configured to shut off every night at a certain time and turn on every morning at a certain time. Every morning when I wake up, the second screen (connected by startech cable) is black, I have to literally disconnect the whole setup, restart the computer, and hopefully it will work. By the way, every time I shut off and turn on the computer, the monitor configuration is not saved, so items that were on the desktop of my second monitor are scattered all over the desktop of my iMac (this was not the case with the adapter/vga cable.) Obviously, I attribute this to a junk cable.Long story short, this cable is a nightmare. It will be going back immediately. I am going to opt for a legit DVI cable and purchase the Rocketfish DVI/minidisplay port adapter.Do yourself a favor and avoid purchasing this cable. Get yourself a legit adapter and a legit, well built DVI cable if you plan on running dual monitors side by side with an imac, or even an external monitor with a macbook pro.Very dissatisfied.

Doesn't work with all monitors
I bought this cable to connect a Surface Pro to a Dell U2410 monitor using one of the monitor's DVI inputs. (And yes, I know the U2410 has a DisplayPort input, but I have a desktop computer that is already using that port.)Unfortunately, the U2410 won't display any actual video image from the Surface Pro. The Surface Pro knows the Dell is plugged in, because the U2410 shows up as a second display in the Screen Resolution control panel, and the Surface Pro's screen saver even turns the U2410 off and on when it goes into or out of power save mode. But no actual image shows up. I've tried all the modes: duplicate, extend, second screen only - and nothing works. I even tried plugging this cable into the U2410's HDMI input using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter; still nothing. However, the cable can't be inherently defective, because when I use this cable with that same DVI-to-HDMI adapter to plug the Surface Pro into my Onkyo receiver, which in turn is connected to a Pioneer TV, then the Surface Pro can display 1080p video on the TV just fine! No audio, obviously, since DVI doesn't support audio. But the fact that it works with the TV is why I'm giving the cable 3 stars instead of 1.

Perfect!
This cable met my requirements perfectly; 1) The mini DVI connector is small, just a little larger than the jack itself, so it doesn't get in the way of adjacent ports. 2) The cable is thin, it's flexible, but not really wiggly flexible like a headphone cord is. 3) It is black in color to match the other cables - All perfect for my laptop to connect to a second monitor!

A little super glue fixed the problem however this was poor quality ...
Edit: This product has stopped working entirely. Junk don't buy.Junk. This product shipped with a broken screw to secure the connector to the monitor . More specifically the plastic nub span freely and was not attached to the screw. I tried removing the plastic nub and screwing it in manually however the nub is what actually forces the connector into the monitors port! A little super glue fixed the problem however this was poor quality control and I wouldn't buy from this company again.

Does what it says
I give it a 4 star rating because mine arrived with the plastic broken where it goes in to the Macbook (Mini display Port), just the plastic was broken connector and functionality are fine.I fixed it with scotch tape and works fine with my 1080p side monitor. I didn't try to return it because it still works and its not worth the trouble taking the time to do so.A lot cheaper than a Mac original cable and I still recommend it, and yes I would still buy it again.

Fantastic
I do a lot of video editing on my 13" Mac Book Pro, so after getting this cable to plug my computer into one of my larger monitors has made a fantastic improvement on my editing. The plug that attaches to the Mac Book is also small enough to leave room to plug in my USB ports and external hard drive via firewire cable. This is certainly worth the purchase.

Another Desktop
This is just what I needed. I have an old Lenovo W530 with MDP output, and an old LG 24" HD monitor with 25 pin DVI-D input. Now, with a keyboard and mouse, I have another desktop.

Nice product
I lost an Apple DVI adapter to metal fatigue and bought this to replace it. The cable is way thinner than the DVI cable that came with my Samsung monitor and a much better solution than the clunky and heavy DVI cable + DVI adapter combination I had before. It's a bit expensive but I had to have a black one. A single white cable in the collection of black ones that clutter my desk would have bugged me.
