This tart cherry extract is fantastic! It's effective in significantly relieving joint pain and inflammation, and it's packed with vitamins and antioxidants. It's great for helping those with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, muscle pain and other inflammatory disorders. It can also help with sleep because tart cherries contain melatonin, which is a sleep hormone. This extract powder has a vibrant pink-purple color and a pleasant, sweet taste. I used it to make an herbal anti-inflammatory/antioxidant supplement, using other natural, healing powders and extracts including turmeric, ginger, rosehip, ashwagandha, blueberry, nettle, holy basil, cayenne, black pepper and solomon's seal root. It's been very helpful in relieving pain and improving mobility in my mom's osteoarthritis. Organic sources are always preferable, but this product is pretty good, other than their ineffective bag (the powder clumps up in the tracks and makes the artight bag ineffective).

high grade quality and good taste. But the surprising thing is that it actually works. I have arthritis and have tried many supplements to no avail including tumeric extract. I research all the clinical trials on PUBMED and NIH before i try anything. My coworker has gout and told me about this. I thought it was nonsense until i read all the research and biochemistry responses that take place in the body. The most important was the suppression of TNF-a one of the primary inflammation precursers and the inhibition of COX 1-2, also very potent inflammatory factors, espesially in most rthritic conditions. I take only a rounded teaspoon in the morning and one in the evening and that has been very effective. This is one supplement, like many others, can have a negative effect if you take too much, according to the research.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I’ve ordered supplements from this company in the past. Always satisfied with products. I ordered this for sleep quality as this is much less expensive than tart cherry juice. The first night I used it, I added it to my evening herbal tea without reading the instructions. BAD idea…lol. I couldn’t wake up the next day. It’s very effective. If you’re sensitive to melatonin, take half of the recommended dose. I use a baby spoon to measure -literally a silver spoon for babies…and still only use half of that spoon when adding it to my tea. I also add liquid magnesium bisglycinate and I have no trouble falling asleep. Menopause insomnia is real and this is a great solution!

I wanted to leave this review since it was unclear to me from the other reviews if this would have flavor or not. Also, since this is a non-returnable item some people may be on the fence about buying it. I didn't purchase it as a supplement but as a flavor/color additive. For flavoring, I add an amount similar to other powdered freeze dried fruits and it has the flavor of tart cherry jam minus the sugar. If you take it as a supplement at the recommended dosage (500mg) I imagine it would not have any noticeable flavor, which is probably great if you are using it that way. The only negative I can think of is that the resealable bag isn't really resealable. I've purchased other bulk supplements products (ex. creatine) and found that to be consistent. Not a big deal - just put it in a jar; it's easier to get out that way.

No flavor at all. No matter how much powder you put in it. I guess the product must have been better some time in the past. Save your money. Better to buy the bottled juice from your local supermarket. Knudson's brand is very good.

Great product so far!

I was disappointed to realize that this is no longer pure tart cherry extract. There was no added Dextrin the previous times I ordered this product. I grabbed a couple bags on sale earlier this month and only just now realized it has changed. On an side note, its also disappointing that Amazon and Bulk Supplements didn't announce this change in ingredients to subscription shoppers. (Also me) Enough dextrin has been added to clearly see a change the color. I dumped the last of the previous bag on top and you can see how much darker it was before so I'll drop two stars for now but will update this review if I can't tell a difference. I hope Bulk Supplements realizes this is silly way to lose customers who would otherwise buy a quality product for years to come. Up to now, this tart cherry extract has been a real inflammation game changer, so fingers crossed.
