Working fine so far!
This item fixed my no-spin problem. The hardest part of the installation was replacing the little snap ring. A friend came over & squeezed it with needle-nose pliers, and it went right in!

DIY and save money - be prepared to get dirty
There are great YouTube videos online showing you how to do this and you absolutely must watch a few of them before you try this. My washer made a grinding noise and didn't spin the drum or agitate. I've had this washer for about 13 years and this is the first repair I've had to make, other than the time a sock somehow got into the pump. It has had very heavy use for all of its life so I'm not surprised it broke. I believe the root cause of my failure was the direct drive motor coupling but I'm not sure because it may also have been something in the clutch assembly because I did see some significant wear. Also, my agitator cogs were quite worn and I noticed a substantial improvement in the vigor of the agitator after I swapped them out. I decided to replace the clutch assembly, direct drive motor shaft coupling, and the agitator dogs/cogs. I bought all the items on Amazon and once I had them together, I began my adventure. I didn't remove the metal shell around the washer tub like I see in the videos, I just tipped it back, drained the water out, and did all the work from the bottom and inside the drum. Again, watch videos on YouTube. I pity the fool who tries this without looking at videos and hopefully you're more adept with appliances than I am. Aside from my pictures, these are my tips to others: Picture 1-3) The motor couplings I purchased were very tight fitting. I think they were likely machined to the same size and they don't, in any way, just slip on. I used a short spark plug socket end from my toolset and a hammer to get both motor couple ends on and it was vigorous hammering. The old one popped off fairly easily from the motor end, which I could see where the metal ring inside the coupling splintered or did something bad. Aligning the two couplings with the black rubber intermediary worked better for me when I put it on the motor end and then slid it onto the transmission. Also, older models may not have a metal reinforced piece inside the white nylon portion but mine did so be aware it might look different than the picture. Picture 4-5) Replacing the clutch assembly requires dropping the transmission and the drive shaft out the bottom of the washer and you have to remove some pieces inside the drum. Keep track of what piece goes where because I managed to get my pieces out of order, only to realize the locking ring I thought went in the drum was actually in the clutch assembly. I got to redo the entire replacement process and I wasn't happy about it. I was a lot faster the second time though and you can see the piece I got wrong in the pictures. Final thoughts - be prepared to get dirty. Lots of grease, pet hair, and nastiness accumulates. This translated to me not being able to watch the YouTube videos as I went along. I wore gloves for some of it because of the sharp edges of the sheet metal but needed more dexterity so took them off and got nasty. Slot about an hour or two for this work max.

This was easy
I installed this 1 month ago on a 15 year old whirlpool washer. So far so good. Installation was simple and well within skill set of anyone with basic to medium mechanical abilities.

Washer is up and running again, perfect fit.
My Whirlpool washer is almost 20 years old. It quit spinning fast enough to rinse the clothes well so they were coming out soaking wet. This clutch was an exact replacement and now the washer works great again. Highly recommend.

Clutch works great, motor coupling kit incompatible.
My washer started having issues spinning during the spin cycle from time to time. Sometimes all it took was manually giving it a spin and closing the lid for it to work, but it finally stopped spinning no matter what I tried. At first, I thought it was the motor coupler but when I took it off, it was completely fine. The next potential suspect was the drain pump, again no issues here. This led me to the clutch. The clutch in this kit works great. It fit with no issues. It fixed the problem with the washer not spinning. I was going to replace my old motor coupler with the ones included in the kit since everything was a part, but it does not fit. The metal sleeve does not seem to be machined to the right size of the motor bit. The job is fairly easy as long as you have the right tools and are comfortable wrenching. Took about 30 minutes to replace the clutch and get everything back together.

Good project for a DIY person
If your like me and still have an old school top load washer with a center agitator, we can be friends. I like to save a buck when I can and I also am not convinced the new washers are a good purchase. Anyways this kit had my drive up and running in no time. The rubber coupling had disintegrated after 20+ years of service. Not hard to replace and your wife will be impressed.
