Wood Shop: Handy Skills and Creative Building Projects for Kids

Bought this for my grandson who just turned twelve. This book really impressed me. The author put so much thought into this book and offers a springboard for imagination. The pictures are beautiful and clear. The instructions are concise while still giving enough detail for projects and tools needed.This is one of the best "how to" books I have ever read. My Grandson is so excited to start his first project. Tweens and teens of both sexes who like to build things will love this book.

My grandson is interested in woodworking and wanted to learn the basics. I gave him some basic tools for Christmas including this book. Over the next couple of days we built a work bench and stilts using this book and his new tools. He loved the experience and learning how to build something from instructions. Made grandpa feel good too.

I am a professional carpenter and avid woodworker and am always looking for new projects to do with kids and I am very impressed with this book. It is very detailed in every aspect, right down to the sandpaper. I like that it is clear without being "dumbed down." The pictures are very clear and the book has some cool projects. (love the tic tac toe)If I had one issue, it was with the kindle version - it seems what should be the first line on the following page, shows up on the bottom of the current page, so the picture sometimes doesn't line up with the beginning of the section. Other than that, I will probably buy the printed version because I think it really is a good book. Even I learned a new technique!

good start for woodworking for kids, easy to follow directions.

I purchased this woodworking book for my 10 year old grandson. Added a few of his Grampa's tools, purchased tools and wood. Such a smile!The book has great safety tips, easy instructions for many projects including skill levels and tools required. The color photos throughout the book are outstanding.

This book delivered more than expected. It teaches about tools and being responsible. The projects are very kid friendly, with adult help. I highly recommend this book for beginning woodworkers!

My 8 year old made the tent and is excited to try making other items.

If you're planning on teaching a woodworking class to younger students this book is perfect! The first few pages are dedicated to the basics, exactly what kids need to get their toes wet. Then the book moves on to projects, many of which they'll actually enjoy making (not just bird houses and pencil holders). All projects have step-by-step instructions with measurements and pictures included. Really a great intro book for kids.
