Saved a lot of money by installing Water Softener System Myself!
Bought this system from the AFWFilters supplier. Everything came quickly on time and they even replaced a part that broke during shipping. This unit works adequately enough for my 4 person family. It was easy to install - just look up videos on youtube. It pretty much is the same model that is or used to be sold by 602abcWATER. 602 put out some good simple tutorials but unfortunately went out of business or is having issues so don't try buying from them...Anyways, about the unit... it's very easy to install and you save yourself thousands of dollars. If any issues occur, you can address most of them yourself saving even more money. This is the unit you want if you want your water softener to last. Chlorine added to most municipal water supplies to make the water sanitary destroys water softener resin. The carbon filter removes chlorine making the water softener last much longer. I highly recommend buying a chlorine test kit, water softener test kit, and TDS water tester. All these in total can be picked up for under $100. This will allow you to check your water and diagnose what is wrong as the unit ages. If I start seeing chlorine, I know I have to change the carbon media. If the water is hard, I have to adjust the regeneration cycles. This is great for the DIY handy homeowner. If you don't want to mess around with your plumbing, this might not be the right units for you.Lastly, do note that the supply lines are not included with this system. You'll need to spend between $50-100 more to buy a connector to the water softener loop and a connector between the carbon filter and the water softener. I went with a SharkBite connector which is very easy - you just cut the water loop and push the connector on. No worrying about welding or anything else. The connectors on the water softener and the carbon filter are 1 in. NTP. This means you'll need a 1 in FIP to 1 in FIP connector for the carbon filter to the water softener and then a 1in FIP to whatever size the pipe or connector is on your water loop. For residential houses, it usually is 3/4 inch or 1 inch diameter piping.I highly recommend this unit. I actually have installed 2 of these units in 2 different houses. One has been going strong for 2 years now in my old house and this new unit from AFWFilters is pretty much exactly like the old one. After initial installation and programming, I have not had to worry about the unit. My water is soft and everyone in the family is happy.Wish you well if you decide to buy this unit and install it yourself!

Great water system, Full year of use.
One year review edit.So at first I was t impressed with the price to quality point how ever after a full year of use this is the system. I haven't had any nasty egg water at all the salt in the softener lasts a long time so your not needed to refill it on a ever other week basis. Which saves a bunch of money. Very high quality water. You will forget that your on a well if you buy this!(Original review)The cost doesn't seem like it's worth it I mean I still had to go out and buy fittings to install it. Which ended up being anouter 70 bucks or what have you. However I just bought a house that has really bad egg water, so I though I would give it a go. Took 3 hours and a trip to the store. Safe to say the water is looking a lot better.

Not great if you have extremely hard water over 10.5 grains per gallon.
My home is in a extreme water area. I thought I would be able to save money with this system but it didn’t hold up. My water is 18gpg hardness and it was constantly eating salt and water to function. My water usage rose as a result costing me more money. I also had to buy carbon filters twice to combat the chlorine which was not cheap considering they didn’t last more than a few months. All in all this was a money pit and I finally gave in and went with a professional water company in my area and haven’t looked back.

Very frustrated
Where do I start. I’m a contractor and have installed multiple of these systems. Today is the last time I recommend this company to any of my customers.3 times in a row that I’ve had a customer order this, the 1/4 inlet elbow has been cracked/broken. Not a big deal since they are available at local hardware.Today however, the inlet was broken along with the coupling in between the canisters. Didn’t even notice it until I was done with the install. Turned on the water and it started spraying everywhere. Refer to pic.Third problem was a missing nut for the 1/4 drain connection. Refer to pic.
