Good budget friendly rug cleaner
I bought this to replace my rug doctor, which broke apart after years of use (of course it broke halfway through cleaning the living room carpet). I will state right off the bat, the rug doctor gave a deeper clean. That said, the rug doctor was significantly more expensive. When I looked up the cost of a new one, I couldnt justify it for the only 4 rooms in our home that are carpeted. After watching several review videos, I opted for the Hoover Power Scrub deluxe. I liked the rotating round brushes. It does take a couple more passes to clean as deep as the rug doctor did, but it does a fair job. Pulled a lot of dirt out of the carpets. I was pretty impressed.I find it far easier to maneuver than the rug doctor, as the handle can be released with a foot paddle. Same for the power button. The trigger to spray is also easy to use. Much lighter to carry up and down the stairs as well. Overall, Id say it much more convenient to use than our old machine.Additionally, it does boast that the machine has heated air to dry your carpets faster. Whenever I'd use the rug doctor, our carpets would be wet for many hours. This machine they are dry within a couple hours or less.Only con for me is that the machine does feel a little cheap. But it works well despite this. I have no regrets. We are a multi pet home and having something that can clean unexpected messes is a must. The upholstery attachments are nice as well.Overall, I'd recommend this machine. Just make sure you go slowly over areas you are cleaning. If you go quickly like a regular vacuum it won't do a good job, same as any carpet cleaner.

Worth the money.
I need to spot clean three bedroom carpets. The carpets are light brown and five years old. One room has cats. One room had a mentally ill son and the other my spouse who is cat averse and messy. I cannot particularly afford a person to clean the rugs and due to cat vomiting I need a way at two AM to clean up. A spot cleaning. So the price was a third off and I decided to give this a try. I’ve assembled -which took almost nothing and cleaned two rooms. First report-it did great.I got burned by a leaking hand held Bissell, so this was great because it took up a lot of the dirt. That’s something that I couldn’t handle in my son’s room. Areas he walked in had tracks and oil stain. He would wear these old boots and had oil from a shop floor he worked in and no ability to remove boots I guess. That’s looking pretty good.now. No not perfect but far beyond my expectations. I did go over it for a long time on shampoo and rinse. The vacuum allows you to switch between rinse and clean. So you can really get to business with great suction. I am extremely sure no cleaning person would work on that rug for hours. But I now can.I’m going to store in my laundry room. Yes, it’s very easy to clean up and I feel confident I can use this to make my house look much better over the next month. I’d say a very good purchase and the discount from Amazon was a good one. Thank you.

Works great, with practice.
I bought this in 2016 during an Amazon Prime Day sale, and it sat in my closet for 8 years. Then, I decided to give it a go, and I'm glad I did! Overall, this can do a great job on a carpet ... not perfect, but I'd probably have to get commercial steam cleaning to do much better.Things I've learned.1. With one tank of water, I can reasonably work on about an 8x10 foot area. You can certainly do much more, but 80 square feet meshes well with how long one tank of water will last in a pass.2. Keep an eye on the water tank! It is easy to run out, and then you are doing nothing. I fill the water tank before each pass, even if there is still some left.3. It's not a vacuum cleaner, so go slower over the carpet in continuous strips and allow those brushes to work.4. Do a one-pass pre-rinse to dampen the carpet. The wash pass will then be more effective. Fill the water tank before starting the wash pass.5. Pull the trigger when you are supposed to. This becomes automatic, but at first I was sometimes forgetting on a strip.6. Wash up one strip and also back down the same strip. Two passes with the trigger on. Follow that up with an up and back pass for suction. Take your time. Go through the entire carpet area like that.7. Rinse pass: fill the water tank before starting. Go up and back in strips taking your time. You will get more dirt and cleaner out with each pass. Don't stop here. There will still be dirt and detergent residue in the carpet if you do, and after drying, you can feel it.8 Do another complete rinse pass to get out more detergent and dirt. The waste water will look almost as dirty and sudsy on each pass.9. Do an additional rinse pass if you are still getting a lot of suds.10. Empty the waste-water tank after each rinse pass so you can see the results of each pass.11. When you are satisfied that you have done enough rinse passes and the suctioned suds has decreased, do another 2 passes with just suction, no water. This will still suction out about a third of a tank of water which will still be somewhat dirty but with much fewer suds. At this point, the carpet should not feel like it has a residue, and the dampness should feel less.12. To dry, set up an oscillating fan and let that run until the carpet is dry, which should be ok by the next day.13. Tough spots: if there is a difficult spot, consider using a hand scrub brush to work the spot. I found this to be very effective. You can also use the hand-held scrubber attachment which also does a good job for spots or small areas.14. Use hearing protection. I measured the sound at between 85 and 89 dB, but that is over the entire range of hearing. The sound is dominated by certain frequencies, and those are likely louder. Protect your hearing! If you use good technique, you WILL get good results. Failure comes from an improper process. I know ... I have done it. You won't get any cleaning if the water tank runs dry or you go over the area too quickly. So, I recommend the machine. It is a great tool, but the actual results depend on the operator.
