Bear Creek Soup Mix, Gumbo, 9.8 Ounce

This is best gumbo soup to make just add sausage chicken a some fresh okra or frozen and some more rice a black eye peas if u want that’s a great quick pot of soup ! Just amazed 15$ a pouch is hwy way robbery ! This used to be 3-4$ at gro stores but can’t find it anywhere so I spurleged for this one last time! Won’t do it again!

Love bear creek great flavor and super simple we take these camping they make a lot and with a few extra ingredients it’s fantastic

Directions indicated to add 8 cups of water which I did but it made the gumbo too thin. I added some corn starch to thicken it a bit. You can find some dehydrated bits of okra and other vegetables but I encourage adding more okra, and some precooked celery and bell pepper. On the back it states you can add Andouille sausage which I did as well as some chicken, ham, and shrimp. This soup makes a great base for the traditional gumbo. If you like to heat it up I recommend some Texas Pete or other tabasco type hot sauce.

I've been using this Bear Creek Gumbo mix for many years adding chicken, baked sliced kielbasa, extra okra and last 10 minutes adding shrimp. Its delicious, easy to make , you can add whatever you choose or not to as the mix us very flavorful. I highly recommend all Bear Creek products.

Living in Texas and a gumbo cooker, I was not too pleased with the flavor. Missing the roux taste, mostly tomato, but if you like a tomato soup with rice and okra, go for it. If your buying for convenience or for food storage, its a bit expensive, but ok in a pinch.

If you love Cajun food, just mix this up with water and optionally add andoile sausage or shrimp (or both) for a perfect bowl of New Orleans inspired Cajun gumbo. If you have not tried these dehydrated soup mixed you are in for a surprise! They are as good or better than most canned soups and easier to store and prepare. Bear Creek brand is the top of the line.
