A book about book covers
Book was smaller in size than I imagined. The pictures were of old book and magazine covers. Not terrible but not really noteworthy either.

Food For Your Skull
I admit it; I'm afflicted with visual addiction. If you're a graphic addict like me, you know what it's like. You wake up in the morning craving fresh input. "What exciting new images can I burn into my brain today?" For people like us there's a great new book that provides plenty of eye candy in the form of vintage skull imagery. What's not to like? From the covers of pulps, paperbacks and comic books, these are some of the finest skull drawings the print medium has to offer. You can "read" through the book for an intense, skull-expanding experience, or just open at random when you need a little pick me up. A skull a day keeps the doctor away! And there are enough here to last about six months. Some skulls are fully rendered, other are more graphic. There are pen & ink skulls, watercolor skulls and oil-painted skulls. Personally, I like the old pulp covers, especially those by Rafael DeSoto, my new favorite skull artist. (George Rozen is a close second.)For graphic connoisseurs like us, the name Monte Beauchamp should be as familiar as your own skull. Well known for Blab! (cutting-edge artwork) as well as the recent Masterful Marks (bios of cartoonists in comics form) and Striking Images (a celebration of matchbook art), Monte can put together a book of pictures like nobody's business. Each page is a treat for the eyebones.Popular Skullture is a small size, handy for carrying with you wherever you go - just in case you have a moment of visual boredom. Nothing satisfies like a grinning skull on a book cover. It also makes a great coffee table book, especially if you have a small coffee table or a lot of books. (Like me.)I recommend Popular Skullture to anyone with eyes or a skull.

It took me some time to move through this brilliantly designed book
160 skull images is a decent size collection and the illustrations presented here are just spectacular! It took me some time to move through this brilliantly designed book, taking in the nostalgia and craft of a bygone era. The book is perfectly proportioned as well in its beautiful hardcover similar in size to others of the1930s to 1950s, which would include the old pulp paperbacks. The quality of the cover reproductions is highly impressive. I also appreciated the info at the bottom of each opposite page, dates and artists inspiring further investigation. Overall, this book is just pure entertainment one cannot wait to show to someone else, it's great! It's also quite a follow up to Mr. Beauchamp's recently published Masterful Marks: Cartoonists Who Changed The World, that I also very highly recommend!!

A COMPENDIUM FOR SKULL ENTHUSIASTS AND SOME FARM BREEDS........
If THE SKULL OBSESSIVES and Mr. Beauchamp think they are going to bring their SKULL MOTIFS into my home with this WERTHAM MADDENING type of objectionable (it is!!) material and affect my children and BORDER COLLIE NAMED SQUEEGY...THEY BE WRONG!Not only at my home but it will also appear at the LOCAL HIGHSCHOOL LIBRARY(at my urging)...A COMPENDIUM FOR THE AGES!!!!.. it get under your skin and it will permeate that and eventually reside IN YOUR HEAD which may contain THE HUMAN SKULL.
